App-DNA Optimises Citrix Application Delivery Models

Streamlining Decision Models Around Application Delivery Speeds Adoption of Citrix XenApp, Microsoft App-V

LONDON: May 11, 2010-App-DNA Inc. announced today from the Citrix Synergy conference advancements in speeding the optimised application delivery models in Citrix environments via enhanced support for XenApp 6 and App-V 4.6 in the AppTitude application compatibility testing platform. Advancing the existing AppTitude application testing and application remediation capabilities for the optimised desktop, the expanded AppTitude Citrix support empowers IT organisations with broader intelligence. AppTitude helps determine the forward path for adopting heterogeneous Citrix XenApp and Microsoft App-V environments, including combinations of technologies such as physical application delivery, virtual application delivery and other subsets of VDI delivery models. App-DNA AppTitude is a semi-finalist for the Best of Synergy Process Improvement Award for streamlining process. A Synergy Bronze Sponsor, App-DNA is exhibiting at Synergy Expo Booth 530.

Essential for organisations leveraging new user-centric delivery models for end user desktops, AppTitude helps organisations avoid the expense and delay of traditional manual brute force testing and vastly reduces the time, cost and risks associated with deployment of a new OS, software upgrades, and XenApp virtualization projects. AppTitude streamlines application compatibility processes, smoothing the adoption of new technologies, including Citrix XenApp, Microsoft App-V, 64-bit and Windows 7. For existing XenApp environments, AppTitude proactively assesses the impact of change at the application and OS level for server consolidation and application load resource management.

Leveraging AppTitude application intelligence, enterprises more effectively plan application delivery models. AppTitude suggests the "best fit" for application delivery - physical OS, application streaming, desktop virtualization and server OS impact. AppTitude employs heuristic algorithms to validate application suitability, interoperability, conflicts, performance and run time analysis, then calculates the footprint of applications - including size, memory consumption and rule calculations. For VDI and private cloud desktop management models, AppTitude helps determine the best forward path for reliably delivering applications. AppTitude provides up-front information to help determine the best route to the optimised desktop and accelerates the application compatibility process to ensure applications reliably reach the end-user.

"Adopting time and effort saving technologies requires thought into the application delivery challenges -- determining the best way to deliver a desktop to each end user. In just minutes, AppTitude provides the critical information for those business decisions, saving hours of testing, rework and operational IT budget. Streamlining application compatibility, testing and remediation, AppTitude saves time, energy, and reduces risk while smoothing the adoption of optimised desktop environments." said Paul Schnell, App-DNA Chief Technical Officer.

The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. Predicting the future has never been more challenging - not because of the lack of data but because of the flood of ungoverned and risk laden information. Microsoft states that 2.5 exabytes of data are created every day. Expectations and reliance on data are being pushed to the limits, as demands around hybrid options continue to grow.
Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
