MONTVALE, N.J., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Now that the Ryder Cup team is complete with Captain Davis Love III choosing his final four picks, it's time to make history – a subject that golf and one of the sport's biggest global supporters Mercedes-Benz know quite well.   Mercedes-Benz, the inventor of the automobile 126 years ago, is gearing up to produce a fan experience at the Ryder Cup like no other including a hole-in one challenge and a PGA Performance Center highlighting the very best in technology from both the automotive and golf industries. The 6,000 sq. foot fan experience is complete with state-of-the-art g-PUTT technology for fans to test their putting prowess and a display of 2013 vehicles including the all-new GL-Class and the Concept Style Coupe.

"The Ryder Cup showcases the best professional golfers in the United States and Europe while Mercedes-Benz is showing the best cars on the road right alongside them," said Bernhard Glaser, vice president of marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA.  "We are providing a backdrop that allows spectators to be inspired by cars with fascinating design while challenging them with golf experiences that enhance excitement and enthusiasm for the game."

The 2013 redesigned GLK will serve as the vehicle to win for those Ryder Cup spectators wishing to test their skills on the Performance Drive Hole-In One Challenge.   Located just inside the main gate is the 16th hole on Medinah #1, a 150-yard par 3 with a green positioned over water.  Open to all those attending the Ryder Cup, each guest can take one shot per day from Thursday-Sunday.

Beyond showcasing the all-new 2013 GL-Class and SL-Class, golf enthusiasts will be immersed in an educational golf experience at the PGA Performance Center, including complimentary putting analysis from a PGA Professional using the same system favored by professionals, or swing simulator that uses strobe photo to capture every aspect from address to follow through.

Car enthusiasts will also have the chance to imagine what is next for the future of Mercedes-Benz vehicles by getting a glimpse of its Concept Style Coupe, a 4-door coupe that is expressive and powerful in its design.  Technical highlights include striking headlamps featuring innovative indicators, a new four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine with 211 hp and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.  Overall, the Concept Style Coupe is a rebel with its sporty breathtaking proportions and aggressive stance that are unique in many ways to give this coupe its unmistakable look.

On Thursday, September 27th from 2-3pm, the PGA Performance Center hosts an autograph session with Mercedes-Benz ambassador Bernhard Langer, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and eleven European Ryder Cup teams.

For the past twenty years, Mercedes-Benz has supported golf through its involvement in professional and amateur tournaments across the globe.  The company is an Official Patron and the Official Vehicle of The PGA of America and an Official Patron of the Ryder Cup and an international partner of The Masters.  Mercedes-Benz is also the official vehicle of The Open Championship and the creator of the Mercedes Trophy, a worldwide series of tournaments in its 23rd year played by 60,000 amateur golfers across 60 countries.

Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.
The session is centered around the tracing of systems on cloud using technologies like ebpf. The goal is to talk about what this technology is all about and what purpose it serves. In his session at 21st Cloud Expo, Shashank Jain, Development Architect at SAP, will touch upon concepts of observability in the cloud and also some of the challenges we have. Generally most cloud-based monitoring tools capture details at a very granular level. To troubleshoot problems this might not be good enough.
DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...

We all know that end users experience the Internet primarily with mobile devices. From an app development perspective, we know that successfully responding to the needs of mobile customers depends on rapid DevOps – failing fast, in short, until the right solution evolves in your customers' relationship to your business.
