The Jenzabar Foundation Recognizes Student-Led Community Service Work

Student Leadership Awards Honor Three Student Leaders and Groups

BOSTON, Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jenzabar Foundation honored student groups for outstanding dedication to service work at a recent Student Leadership Awards ceremony held in Boston, MA on September 14. The event recognized three Student Leadership Award winners who have made significant contributions to better the world outside of their colleges and universities.

The three student-led campus groups were the remaining 2012 Jenzabar Foundation Student Leadership Award recipients. The Foundation has recognized a total of ten student-led campus groups and projects this year who each receive a $5,000 grant to continue their work. The Jenzabar Foundation Student Leadership Award honorees have exemplified a commitment to community service or humanitarian work through ongoing activities or a completion of a project during the 2011-2012 academic year.

The following student groups earned 2012 Student Leadership Awards on September 14:

Bradley University's Lewis J. Burger Center for Student Leadership and Public Service

We applaud the students and Bradley University for establishing such a wonderful center and participating in such projects that benefit the community and change the world. The Lewis J. Burger Center for Student Leadership and Public Service was established in 1996 to educate and prepare Bradley students to be committed and effective leaders in their careers, families, and communities by providing leadership development programs and service learning opportunities. The Center consists of three major interdependent components: leadership development programs, a volunteer network and service opportunities, and the Leadership & Public Service Fellows Program. Five other award winners were announced in early June, recognizing student groups from: Asbury Theological Seminary, Buena Vista University, Rice University, University of Saint Francis and Valley Forge Christian College.

"Jenzabar and the Jenzabar Foundation support higher education beyond technology. We want to help our community of students shine and give them the tools they need to succeed, so that they can be the best and the brightest both on and off campus," said Robert A. Maginn Jr., Chairman of the Jenzabar Foundation and CEO of Jenzabar, Inc. "The Jenzabar Foundation Student Leadership Awards honor our exceptional students and motivate them to be our future leaders."

The Foundation selected the winning student groups based on their impact and mission; involvement on campus and in the community; and the potential for other institutions to emulate their model of service. Over the last five years, the Foundation has issued more than 700 grants to non-profit organizations totaling over 2 million dollars.
