Data Compliance Solutions Firm CSR Granted US Patent for PCI ToolKit

CSR, a leading provider of award-winning data privacy solutions, today announced that the U.S. Patent Office and Trademark Office recognized the innovative nature of CSR’s PCI ToolKit™ questionnaire and attestation method, granting U.S. Patent No. 8,296,244 for the invention of that process.

The PCI ToolKit web application takes the headache and hassle out of complying with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a set of information security requirements endorsed by all credit card brands for entities that process, transmit and/or store payment card data.

“We engaged in an arduous five-year long process to obtain our patent, answering many questions and making a number of filings to achieve this milestone,” according to CSR President Rick Heroux. “In the end, the examiners at the United States Patent Office thoroughly vetted CSR’s system and method against patents and claims of similar inventions and determined that our system is truly one-of-a-kind.”

“We are proud to achieve this milestone, and assure our clients, colleagues and future clients that they can have confidence in our expertise to provide what is, to our knowledge, the only PCI compliance solution that is patented,” says Heroux.

The PCI ToolKit is designed for all merchants, small and large, to complete the annually mandated Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ). The PCI ToolKit eliminates the need to decipher complicated and confusing rules, regulations and forms, helping payment processors generate revenues while managing portfolio compliance.

Using sophisticated logic, the PCI ToolKit guides merchants through an automated SAQ, written in layman’s terms, presenting only questions pertinent to their particular business. Then it identifies areas of noncompliance, weakness and risk, automatically generating simply-worded policies and procedures, email reminders, and remediation instructions with deadlines, all while tracking progress on the merchant’s dashboard.

Product trials by members of the acquiring community confirm the Patent Office’s findings. The PCI ToolKit product is consistently selected as the unique, best-in-class solution for ease of use and achievement of PCI compliance.

CSR has several other patents pending including one for the CSR Breach Reporting ToolKit™ service, which provides straightforward, expeditious compliance with complex data breach notification rules and regulations for organizations of all types and sizes.

Acquirers, ISOs, payment processors, value-added resellers, franchisors and other associations interested in offering PCI ToolKit or CSR Breach Reporting ToolKit services to their merchants or members can email sales@csrcorporate.com or call 1-866-462-7774 for more information.

Wooed by the promise of faster innovation, lower TCO, and greater agility, businesses of every shape and size have embraced the cloud at every layer of the IT stack – from apps to file sharing to infrastructure. The typical organization currently uses more than a dozen sanctioned cloud apps and will shift more than half of all workloads to the cloud by 2018. The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regu...
When you focus on a journey from up-close, you look at your own technical and cultural history and how you changed it for the benefit of the customer. This was our starting point: too many integration issues, 13 SWP days and very long cycles. It was evident that in this fast-paced industry we could no longer afford this reality. We needed something that would take us beyond reducing the development lifecycles, CI and Agile methodologies. We made a fundamental difference, even changed our culture...
More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smart...
