LearnSomething Wins Innovators in Business Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Governor Rick Scott recently announced that LearnSomething has been named the winner of the 2012 Governor's Innovation & Entrepreneurship Award for a company in a major market. LearnSomething was honored during a reception at the Governor's Mansion.

The award recognizes an innovative company that has set a standard for entrepreneurship within the past five years or created an innovative product in the past three years.

The honor closely follows the LearnSomething's selection to TrainingIndustry.com's list of "Top 20 Learning Portal Companies."

The innovative products LearnSomething was recognized for include:

DrugAdvisor makes it possible for manufacturers to rapidly deliver a consistent and accurate message about new drugs to pharmacy staff within virtually every grocery and drug chain in the U.S. Using their vast education network, LearnSomething can deliver a brief media program. In just a matter of minutes, pharmacists and technicians become better prepared to engage with patients and answer questions on new drugs, OTC switches, and even health, beauty and wellness products — right at the strategic moment they are coming to the shelf.

"We've opened up an information conduit between pharmaceutical manufacturers and pharmacists that really works," said Steve Roden, CEO of LearnSomething. "In the last 12 months we have entered Master Service agreements with 14 pharmaceutical companies under our DrugAdvisor new product education program. We are quickly becoming an integral component of manufacturers' launch plans for new drugs and OTC switches."

The Governor's award also recognizes Learner Community, a learning platform that expands the range of learning experiences organizations can offer their members and employees, and simplifies the course creation and distribution process.

"In less than a year our flagship platform, Learner Community, has been recognized as one of the top 20 learning portals in the world and has been adopted by Pearson Learning as their platform for professional learning. The response has been extraordinary," Roden said.

Among the major organizations now using Learner Community as their learning platform are the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Colorado Secretary of State.

"We believe this award recognizes two kinds of success in business," Roden said. "First, our success is boosting and diversifying the state's economy, and that's essential for all of us. But this award also demonstrates that our products, like DrugAdvisor, reach far beyond our clients, to their patients and customers, and support more effective health care. That's recognition we really value."
