CHICAGO, Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Gaiam, the leading producer and marketer of lifestyle media and fitness accessories, has been delivering positive change through personal development, health and wellness since 1988. Gaiam has decided to extend its positive channels to its ecommerce business by providing users with a high-quality, sophisticated shopping experience at

In order to have more flexibility and functionality, Gaiam brought in the ecommerce experts at Lyons Consulting Group, the premier ecommerce strategy, design, development, hosting and support firm. Lyons Consulting Group migrated Gaiam's site from an underperforming solution to Demandware® Commerce, a much more robust and flexible cloud-based platform.

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
