NEW YORK, Dec. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:
Government investments in energy storage and related areas (such as smart grid) are clearly bearing fruit, particularly in the North American and Asian markets. As the global energy storage project pipeline has grown, the number of deployed projects has increased as well. Meanwhile, the R&D strategies of each region are becoming more apparent, as Asian economies are moving toward advanced battery technologies, with the intention of developing export industries, whereas the North American market is characterized by a policy of funding innovation and is, consequently, the most technologically diverse region in the industry.
In addition to government support, two factors account for the rise in deployments of energy storage projects: demand for energy storage has risen, as utilities have learned more about energy storage technologies and become less risk averse, and the brightening economic outlook has made companies become more willing to invest the capital required for energy storage. Announced projects rose in number from 83 in the second quarter of 2012 to 107 in the fourth quarter. The number of deployed projects (indicating that a project is operational) grew from 522 to 562 during the same period.
This Pike Research tracker report includes a database of 757 projects and tracks the country, region, market segment, status, technology vendor, applications, funding, investment, and key milestones for each project. In addition, the report includes analysis of the project pipeline for energy storage, an analysis of the technology bias within each major region for storage, key trends over the past 5 years, and the leading end-use market segments in the space.
Key Questions Addressed:
• How large is the energy storage pipeline and how has it changed in the past 6 months?
• Which regions are leading in terms of market share in the energy storage sector?
• What is the technology choice within each region? Which global regions are more innovative?
• How many new projects have come online in the last 6 months?
• How has the energy storage market changed in the past 5 years?
• What are the leading market segments for energy storage? Which technologies lead in each segment?

DevOps tends to focus on the relationship between Dev and Ops, putting an emphasis on the ops and application infrastructure. But that’s changing with microservices architectures. In her session at DevOps Summit, Lori MacVittie, Evangelist for F5 Networks, will focus on how microservices are changing the underlying architectures needed to scale, secure and deliver applications based on highly distributed (micro) services and why that means an expansion into “the network” for DevOps.

Containers have changed the mind of IT in DevOps. They enable developers to work with dev, test, stage and production environments identically. Containers provide the right abstraction for microservices and many cloud platforms have integrated them into deployment pipelines. DevOps and Containers together help companies to achieve their business goals faster and more effectively. In his session at DevOps Summit, Ruslan Synytsky, CEO and Co-founder of Jelastic, reviewed the current landscape of...

The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed this very serious issue of pro...

The cloud has transformed how we think about software quality. Instead of preventing failures, we must focus on automatic recovery from failure. In other words, resilience trumps traditional quality measures. Continuous delivery models further squeeze traditional notions of quality. Remember the venerable project management Iron Triangle? Among time, scope, and cost, you can only fix two or quality will suffer. Only in today's DevOps world, continuous testing, integration, and deployment upend...

In the midst of the widespread popularity and adoption of cloud computing, it seems like everything is being offered “as a Service” these days: Infrastructure? Check. Platform? You bet. Software? Absolutely. Toaster? It’s only a matter of time. With service providers positioning vastly differing offerings under a generic “cloud” umbrella, it’s all too easy to get confused about what’s actually being offered. In his session at 16th Cloud Expo, Kevin Hazard, Director of Digital Content for SoftL...
