Peer Advisory Model to Help Southern California Businesses Prosper

-TAB launches in Southern California - driving local entrepreneurial success

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Alternative Board (TAB), a leading peer-group advisory and executive coaching service for local entrepreneurs, owners and CEOs, launches in Southern California January 21, 2013. TAB helps local business owners align their business and personal visions. Owners and CEOs who are TAB Members represent a brain trust of intellectual capital related to operating a privately owned business. This trust offers perspectives, insights and ideas to drive member businesses to the next level.

Nick Leighton, Owner and CEO of The Alternative Board Southern California said, "Now is the time for entrepreneurs to lead the way, to build the local economy and bring success to both their organizations and personal lives. At TAB we're stepping forward to help make that happen here in Southern California."

According to the latest economic forecasts by Chapman University, Los Angeles & Orange Counties are continuing their recovery during a difficult economic time; leading the state and nation in growth. In this environment some business owners have managed to thrive and show substantial profits.  What is their secret?  How have they managed to beat the odds in these times of economic uncertainty?

The secret is the advice that these business owners receive from their peers for suggested solutions to the challenges confronting them. Business owners worldwide are finding that the best advice often comes from their peers – other business owners who have faced similar experiences and developed real-world strategies to reach their dreams.  One organization that offers these types of resources to business owners is The Alternative Board.

TAB builds boards of non-competing business with average revenues between $1 million to $100 million. In these boards, owners meet monthly to tap into the wealth of experience from their peers.  Each peer advisory board is typically comprised of up to 10 business owners, CEOs and presidents.

According to a recent survey conducted by The Alternative Board, of 300 small business owners, 60% of TAB Members made a profit in 2011 – that is 1.5 times greater than non-TAB members.  The same study noted that 67% of TAB Members trust advice from their board versus only 29% for advice from non-TAB members.

This peer think-tank format has been successful for tens of thousands of business owners globally since 1990.  Nick Leighton is one of The Alternative Board's certified business coaches and said, "TAB helps small business owners achieve their personal and business dreams by bringing the expertise and knowledge of a collective group of business owners to the table.  That's very powerful."

TAB-Certified Facilitators/Coaches help business owners spend less time working in their business, and more time working on their business. This shift from tactical to strategic leadership often enables leaders to begin achieving what they originally set out to do as business owners.  TAB tools include a gap analysis tool to reorient priorities and resources to the most important business areas, a personal and company vision tool to ensure dreams are captured, and a strategic business leadership tool that provides a roadmap for achieving each vision through the establishment of goals, strategies and action plans.

Regarding the launch of TAB Sothern California, Nick Leighton stated, "The way to prosper and grow in these complex economic times is to surround yourself with smart non-competing business peers who can help you see your business blind spots, navigate competitors, and emerge victorious in what is one of the toughest economic environments in history."

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. A Nutanix Enterprise Cloud has many benefits that provide the needed base for a true DevOps paradigm.
