Procera Networks Deployed by Tier 1 Middle Eastern Converged Fixed/Mobile Operator

Secures Multi-Million Dollar Initial Order to Replace Competitor's Products

FREMONT, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/29/13 -- Procera Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PKT), the global intelligent policy enforcement company, today announced it has secured a multi-million dollar initial order from a Tier 1 Middle Eastern converged Fixed line and Mobile network operator. The operator is experiencing significant traffic growth across both fixed and mobile networks, and selected Procera to provide growth capability in the network core. The operator selected Procera's PacketLogic™ PL10000 platform for the network deployment throughout its footprint. Procera expects to recognize the revenue from this initial order in the first half of 2013.

"Converged Fixed/Mobile operators are looking for Intelligent Policy Enforcement solutions that can support both fixed and mobile deployments simultaneously," said Paul Gracie, vice president of sales, EMEA at Procera. "This requires flexible solutions that can scale performance as well as subscribers and service capacity, and this operator selected Procera to replace their existing solution in order to meet their rapidly growing network demands."

The operator initially evaluated and selected the PL10000 for its traffic management capabilities to ensure a high quality of experience for its customers. The deployment has evolved to take advantage of the sophisticated network and subscriber analytics provided by the PacketLogic Intelligence Center and the PacketLogic Report Studio to create Intelligent Charging solutions across both fixed and mobile networks. This operator will also be utilizing Procera's ContentLogic product to perform content analytics and offer value-added services to their subscribers while offering Intelligent Charging services based on 3GPP standards. Using ContentLogic and other Procera analytics, the operator is able to quickly determine the services that are popular with its subscribers, and design new sticky service plans and marketing campaigns for its customers. The operator is also utilizing the Advanced Traffic Steering capabilities of the PL10000, steering specific subscriber and application traffic to value added service solutions.

When it comes to IoT in the enterprise, namely the commercial building and hospitality markets, a benefit not getting the attention it deserves is energy efficiency, and IoT’s direct impact on a cleaner, greener environment when installed in smart buildings. As-a-service models offer huge opportunities, but also complicate security. It may seem that the easiest way to migrate to a new architectural model is to let others, experts in their field, do the work. This has given rise to many as-a-service models throughout the industry and across the entire technology stack, from software to infrastructure. While this has unlocked huge opportunities to accelerate the deployment of new capabilities or increase economic efficiencies within an organization, i...

You have your devices and your data, but what about the rest of your Internet of Things story? Two popular classes of technologies that nicely handle the Big Data analytics for Internet of Things are Apache Hadoop and NoSQL. Hadoop is designed for parallelizing analytical work across many servers and is ideal for the massive data volumes you create with IoT devices. NoSQL databases such as Apache HBase are ideal for storing and retrieving IoT data as “time series data.”
Clearly the way forward is to move to cloud be it bare metal, VMs or containers. One aspect of the current public clouds that is slowing this cloud migration is cloud lock-in. Every cloud vendor is trying to make it very difficult to move out once a customer has chosen their cloud. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Naveen Nimmu, CEO of Clouber, Inc., will advocate that making the inter-cloud migration as simple as changing airlines would help the entire industry to quickly adopt the cloud wit...
As the world moves towards more DevOps and microservices, application deployment to the cloud ought to become a lot simpler.
