American Airlines Applies For Additional Service To Brazil

American to Expand New Service to Brazil by Adding New Routes from Los Angeles and Chicago Hubs

FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines today filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation for the right to fly additional United StatesBrazil frequencies beginning in 2013 and 2014. American will use these frequencies to add one new daily round trip service from its Los Angeles and Chicago hubs to Sao Paulo, expanding the airline's Latin American network footprint to provide even greater choices to its customers.

Pending government approvals, American proposes to begin new service between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo in late 2013 and Chicago O'Hare and Sao Paulo in late 2014.

American currently serves Brazil from Miami to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo; from New York Kennedy to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo; and from Dallas/Fort Worth to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

American offers more than 800 weekly flights to 49 cities throughout Latin America, including Mexico, Central and South America.
