Spread the Cost of Christmas with the Asda Money Christmas Savings Card

LEEDS, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 03/26/13 -- The decorations have been taken down, the food supply levels have returned to normal and you've already forgotten what presents you got, but the one thing that still remains is the festive financial hangover. Asda Money explains how a Christmas Savings Card could help spread the cost of Christmas.

The festive season does not come cheap and UK families fork out an average of GBP 600 at Christmas, with many relying on credit, loans, overdraft facilities and budgeting to pay for it all.(1)

As festive spirits dwindle and sky high winter energy bills come in, the New Year can be a real drain on finances. Not only do households need to cover everyday living costs, but many will still be managing their debt from Christmas spending. Some 59% of consumers bought their presents on plastic in December last year and worryingly one in five are still paying off their Christmas debt from 2011.(2)

Planning ahead for Christmas 2013 could help to ensure that consumers are able to celebrate the festive season in style, without suffering from a dreaded case of 'Christmas credit hangover'.

The Asda Christmas Savings Card, for example, could help you ease the financial pangs of the festive season by allowing you to save up in the months leading up to Christmas.

You can pick up and top up your FREE Christmas savings card in-store or online.

Then, depending on how much you've saved, you'll receive a special Asda bonus a few weeks before Christmas, just when you need it most. The way it works is simple, each card allows Asda customers to save up to the full amount of GBP 144 in which will pay you a GBP 6 tiered bonus but don't worry if you have not saved the full amount as you can still get a bonus. For example, a balance of GBP 49 to GBP 96 will get you a bonus of GBP 1 and a balance of GBP 97-GBP 143 will get you a GBP 3 bonus(3).

Remember the more you save, the bigger your bonus, so start saving today!

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...

The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...
Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.

To get the most out of their data, successful companies are not focusing on queries and data lakes, they are actively integrating analytics into their operations with a data-first application development approach. Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. Thi...
