Mountainview Energy Ltd. announces officer appointments

CUT BANK, MT, April 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Mountainview Energy Ltd. (TSXV: MVW) ("Mountainview" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the appointments of Mr. Justin K. Balkenbush as Vice President, Operations and Mr. Joseph Montalban as Vice President, Business Development.

Mr. Balkenbush is a registered professional engineer who has been active in the oil and gas industry for over twenty (20) years beginning in 1991 when he worked summers on workover rigs in Northern Montana.  He graduated from Montana Tech with a BS in Environmental Engineering in 1995 and started his career with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO).  He continued working for ARCO while completing his Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering—graduating with High Honors in 1997.  After graduation, Justin moved to Alaska with ARCO (later BP) to work in Prudhoe Bay primarily on completion and stimulation projects.  In 2002, Justin transferred with BP to the Gulf of Mexico as a Workover Superintendant until a BP asset sale forced a move to Occidental Petroleum in California.  In 2005, Justin took the opportunity to return to the Rocky Mountains beginning his tenure with St. Mary Land & Exploration (now SM Energy) working in the Williston Basin on some of the first Middle Bakken Horizontal wells in North Dakota.  Justin worked in various roles of increasing operational and reservoir engineering responsibility with SM Energy focusing primarily on North Dakota Bakken/Three Forks plays in McKenzie and Divide Counties.

Mr. Montalban graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in 2008.  In 2009, Joseph joined Mountainview full time and has since managed Mountainview's current producing properties located in the South Alberta Bakken Region in North Central Montana.   He is currently responsible for 5 field employees, over 80 producing oil/gas wells, 2 water flood projects, and 3 gas compressor stations.  Joseph has also assisted Mountainview in expanding its project portfolio to include three new projects in the Williston Basin (Stateline Project, Medicine Lake Project and 12 Gage Project).  He has assisted negotiations on several financings for the Company, including securing a $75 million mezzanine financing for the Company's 12 Gage Project located in Divide County, ND.

Mountainview's Board of Directors and management team are very pleased to have both Mr. Balkenbush and Mr. Montalban join Mountainview's executive team and are confident that their wealth of both technical and operational knowledge and experience will be a key component to Mountainview's success.
