DoubleHorn Communications Combines Avaya-Compliant Managed SIP Trunks with Avaya Platforms; Simplifying Unified Communications and Collaboration Management

DoubleHorn Communications, an award-winning provider of managed business communications and hosted IT and cloud services, today announced a unique and comprehensive Avaya-centric Unified Communications and Collaboration (UC&C) solution. The offering combines DoubleHorn’s Avaya-compliant managed SIP Trunks with either Avaya Aura® Communication Manager 6.2, Avaya Aura® Session Manager 6.3 or Avaya IP Office 8.1, and includes the MyDoubleHorn Communications Platform, providing additional control over the UC&C environment. DoubleHorn is a Technology Partner in the Avaya DevConnect program.

The solutions are designed to meet the needs of small to mid-size enterprises (SMEs) with 20 – 2,000 employees. For most of these companies to benefit from UC&C they must overcome challenges including: sourcing software and related hardware components from numerous vendors, making significant capital expenditures, conducting testing to ensure interoperability of all components, tasking employees with day-to-day infrastructure management for performance and availability, and dealing with multiple vendors anytime a problem arises.

In contrast, DoubleHorn has created a comprehensive bundle that includes all hardware, software and services in a single, managed solution, backed by an end-to-end Service Level Agreement (SLA). DoubleHorn has done the work of testing and proving interoperability between the company’s Avaya-Compliant managed SIP trunk, Avaya UC&C platforms, and the underlying transport network. DoubleHorn is responsible for ensuring the ongoing performance and availability of the UC&C infrastructure. Should the customer experience issues, or have questions related to their UC&C environment, one phone call to DoubleHorn is all that’s needed for resolution.

Additionally, DoubleHorn provides the MyDoubleHorn customer portal. This online resource allows customers to view the performance of their UC&C network; interact with DoubleHorn support; configure Direct Inward Dialing capabilities if desired; even provision additional SIP trunks anytime, on their own.

“Today’s announcement is the latest in a growing portfolio of industry leading technology partnerships, delivering to SMEs the most comprehensive UC&C solutions on the market,” said Tab Schadt, CEO of DoubleHorn Communications. “We know that by collaborating with the leading UC&C platform providers to produce an integrated offering, we make it easy for the SMEs. We are unique among Avaya partners in that we can offer both the Avaya platform and the underlying networking technology that delivers optimal performance for the customer's UC&C deployment.”

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
The IoT is upon us, but today’s databases, built on 30-year-old math, require multiple platforms to create a single solution. Data demands of the IoT require Big Data systems that can handle ingest, transactions and analytics concurrently adapting to varied situations as they occur, with speed at scale. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Chad Jones, chief strategy officer at Deep Information Sciences, will look differently at IoT data so enterprises can fully leverage their IoT potential. He’ll sha...
The modern software development landscape consists of best practices and tools that allow teams to deliver software in a near-continuous manner. By adopting a culture of automation, measurement and sharing, the time to ship code has been greatly reduced, allowing for shorter release cycles and quicker feedback from customers and users. Still, with all of these tools and methods, how can teams stay on top of what is taking place across their infrastructure and codebase? Hopping between services a...

However, the rigid and siloed structures of traditional IT platforms and processes are slowing them down – resulting in lengthy delivery ...
As a CIO, are your direct reports IT managers or are they IT leaders? The hard truth is that many IT managers have risen through the ranks based on their technical skills, not their leadership ability. Many are unable to effectively engage and inspire, creating forward momentum in the direction of desired change. Renowned for its approach to leadership and emphasis on their people, organizations increasingly look to our military for insight into these challenges.
Overgrown applications have given way to modular applications, driven by the need to break larger problems into smaller problems. Similarly large monolithic development processes have been forced to be broken into smaller agile development cycles. Looking at trends in software development, microservices architectures meet the same demands. Additional benefits of microservices architectures are compartmentalization and a limited impact of service failure versus a complete software malfunction....
