Verdande Technology to Discuss Platform Use Cases for Case-Based Reasoning at the International Conference on Case-Based Reasoning

Verdande Technology, a provider of real-time Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) technology, today announced that Frode Sørmo, chief technology officer, will be speaking at the 21st International Conference on Case-Based Reasoning on July 8-11 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Sørmo will discuss "From blowouts to cardiac arrest: Taking CBR from an application to a platform."

Sørmo will discuss how CBR, based on the principle that similar problems have similar solutions, can be utilized in industries where a situation can change in an instant and users will need real-time, data-backed decision support in order to act quickly and lead to a positive outcome. Based on Verdande Technology's work in oil and gas, financial services and healthcare, Sørmo will explain how CBR can be transformed from an application to platform use and provide examples of practical, successful use of CBR in each industry, in situations ranging from the operating room to the drill site.


As one of the founders of Verdande Technology, Sørmo developed the case-based reasoning technology, the core of the Edge platform. From 2006 – 2008, Sørmo led the software development team in developing the first prototype of DrillEdge Software. In 2008, Sørmo took on his current role as CTO in providing strategy on technology, research and product development. Sørmo holds a master's and Ph.D. from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in computer science with a specialization in artificial intelligence and case-based reasoning.
