MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - July 23, 2013) - Seeyond™ Architectural Solutions recently installed the second in a series of new ceiling clouds -- a suspended cloud in the lobby area of a tropical resort in the Caribbean. The resort wanted a dramatic lobby experience for their guests as they entered the property -- an experience that reflected the flow of the Caribbean waters. Their A&D firm, DSI Hospitality in Miami worked with Seeyond to deliver on those expectations. "The new Seeyond ceiling cloud is incredibly theatrical," said Clive Booker, President at DSI. "Everyone finds it to be very cool, new and enlightening. It's a very cost-effective approach for a very challenging space. We enjoyed the truly turnkey nature of the Seeyond solution starting with the highly interactive design phase and working all the way through to installation. The team was great and so is the product. We can't wait to use it again in another project."
Seeyond Ceiling Cloud Advantages
Seeyond ceiling installations offer a number of distinct advantages to alternative approaches for ceiling treatments: 1. The cellular resin material used in Seeyond clouds has an incredible strength-to-weight ratio with a one-pound-per-square-foot weight. 2. The Seeyond cloud solution can accommodate any existing substrates and infrastructure, including installed life-safety equipment. 3. The tessellated nature of the Seeyond cloud features allows for easy removal of any of the modules for instant maintenance access to what lies above. 4. Every Seeyond installation features hidden hardware thereby delivering a clean and elegant tessellated aesthetic. 5. Every Seeyond specialty feature is created with the opportunity for infinite customization and complete flexibility throughout the design process.
Further, the Seeyond solution proves to be an ideal approach for efficiently creating organic shape and complex form. Ceilings in particular are generating significant interest and gaining sales traction, likely due to both their dramatic aesthetic and their efficient functionality. "The many distinct advantages of a Seeyond ceiling cloud create a compelling case," said Kirby Rea, general manager at Seeyond. "Because no additional infrastructure is required for installation (every Seeyond feature is self-structuring), our cloud solution is incredibly appealing to architects and designers. It's an easy way through a what is often a complex situation -- a situation that involves working around existing structures and critical equipment."
Seeyond™ Architectural Solutions delivers a comprehensive approach that integrates the design, manufacturing and installation of architectural specialty features -- walls, wall facings, ceiling clouds, enclosures, and columns -- including office walls and partitions, lobby features, reception areas, work spaces, and wall-to-ceiling transitions. Their proprietary system provides total control of the outcome and an empowered sense of risk-free design freedom for commercial architects and designers.
Seeyond is driven by parametric-design software called the Tess™ Specification Tool, which is patent pending. The Seeyond solution proves to be an ideal approach for efficiently creating organic shape and complex form for self-structuring specialty features. Designers can access Tess through custom one-on-one online design sessions with Seeyond.
Seeyond™ Architectural Solutions was first introduced at NeoCon in 2011. At its launch, Seeyond won a Gold Award in the Best of NeoCon competition's Architectural Products category. Seeyond also won a prestigious Innovation Award in the same competition, which was sponsored by Contract magazine. In 2012, Seeyond took a Silver Award for its new movable walls in the Best of NeoCon competition. And in 2013 Seeyond received a Gold Award for collaboration-space movable walls and a silver award for decorative lighting.
Typical market segments for Seeyond include hospitality, office, and retail environments. The average time from design through installation is less than two months. Since introduction, Seeyond has installed more than 30 unique specialty features throughout the U.S. Their pipeline continues to be filled with projects destined for well-known airports and offices, resorts and hospitals, stores, casinos and restaurants.
Seeyond™ Architectural Solutions is a member of the Liberty Diversified International (LDI) family of companies. Privately held LDI is headquartered in the Minneapolis, Minnesota suburb of New Hope. For more information, visit www.seeyond.com or call 800-508-5455.

For basic one-to-one voice or video calling solutions, WebRTC has proven to be a very powerful technology. Although WebRTC’s core functionality is to provide secure, real-time p2p media streaming, leveraging native platform features and server-side components brings up new communication capabilities for web and native mobile applications, allowing for advanced multi-user use cases such as video broadcasting, conferencing, and media recording.

DevOps is speeding towards the IT world like a freight train and the hype around it is deafening. There is no reason to be afraid of this change as it is the natural reaction to the agile movement that revolutionized development just a few years ago. By definition, DevOps is the natural alignment of IT performance to business profitability. The relevance of this has yet to be quantified but it has been suggested that the route to the CEO’s chair will come from the IT leaders that successfully ma...

Fifty billion connected devices and still no winning protocols standards. HTTP, WebSockets, MQTT, and CoAP seem to be leading in the IoT protocol race at the moment but many more protocols are getting introduced on a regular basis. Each protocol has its pros and cons depending on the nature of the communications. Does there really need to be only one protocol to rule them all? Of course not. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Chris Matthieu, co-founder and CTO of Octoblu, walk you through how Oct...

A critical component of any IoT project is what to do with all the data being generated. This data needs to be captured, processed, structured, and stored in a way to facilitate different kinds of queries. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle certain kinds of queries, but they are not always well suited to many problems, particularly when there is a need for real-time insights.

As software becomes more and more complex, we, as software developers, have been splitting up our code into smaller and smaller components. This is also true for the environment in which we run our code: going from bare metal, to VMs to the modern-day Cloud Native world of containers, schedulers and microservices. While we have figured out how to run containerized applications in the cloud using schedulers, we've yet to come up with a good solution to bridge the gap between getting your conta...
