Jeff Bonforte Returns to Headline StartupCamp8

TMC and EMBRASE Business Consulting today announced that Jeff Bonforte, who was recently named vice president of product at Yahoo!, will be the keynote speaker at StartupCamp8, being held August 27, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. PST at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

StartupCamp offers early-stage entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their startups to a large audience of industry experts, media, investors and prospects.

Since 2008, Bonforte served as CEO of Xobni, an early mover in the address-book management space. In July of this year, Xobni was acquired by Yahoo. For Bonforte, his return to Yahoo! is a homecoming of sorts, as he was previously Yahoo’s vice president of real-time communications. Known for his witty and insightful presentation style, Bonforte is also an accomplished communications technologist, with patents in the areas of voice recognition and instant messaging, among others. Bonforte was recently listed by Fortune Magazine as one of 36 of tech’s most powerful disrupters.

“Put simply, Jeff is one the most candid, funny and straightforward speakers I have ever heard. His diverse background allows him plenty of valuable material to share, and his delivery is such that what he says just sinks in,” said Larry Lisser, founder of StartupCamp. “StartupCamp is a fun and high-energy event that gives participants the opportunity to develop and strengthen working relationships, while honing their pitch to industry experts.”

Last winter in Miami, StartupCamp7 featured an extraordinary interview with John Sculley, with New York’s VerbalizeIt declared the winner of the pitch competition. The startup has since gone on to be featured on ABC’s SharkTank.

StartupCamp8 is collocated with ITEXPO Las Vegas, held August 27-29, 2013, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and is supported by Platinum Sponsor Momentum; Gold Sponsors UberConference, Firespotter Labs and TelePacific Communications; and Silver Sponsor Phone.com.
