SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Bacchus Capital Management, LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm providing strategic capital in the wine industry, has exited its investment in Qupe, a leading California Central Coast wine producer founded by award-winning winemaker Bob Lindquist. The firm had provided a second lien loan to the winery in March of 2011.
"Bob Lindquist is a leader and innovator in the wine industry," commented Sam Bronfman, Bacchus Capital Co-founder and Managing Partner. "I am sure his wines will continue to garner the accolades for which he is known, and we wish Bob much success going forward."
"Bob has been a terrific partner," stated Peter Kaufman, Bacchus Capital Co-founder and Managing Partner. "We are glad to have been of assistance in taking him and the Qupe team to the next level. We are sure that their future will continue to be very bright."
Qupe is dedicated to producing handcrafted Rhône varietals and Chardonnay from California's Central Coast. The company employs traditional winemaking techniques to make wines that are true to type and speak of their vineyard sources. The goal of Qupe is to make wines with impeccable balance that can be enjoyed in their youth, yet because of the good acidity from cool vineyard sites can also benefit from ageing. The winery is committed to sourcing grapes from some of the best and most prestigious vineyards in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Qupe was founded by Bob Lindquist in 1982.
