Beyond Bank Creates A Bush Fire Appeal to Support Affected Areas of New South Wales

Beyond Bank Australia has launched a Bush Fire Appeal via its charitable foundation to raise much-needed funds for residents of New South Wales, devastated by recent fires.

ADELAIDE, Australia, Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Beyond Bank Australia Foundation has kick-started the appeal with a donation of A$20,000, and the 100 per cent customer-owned bank is now urging its staff, members and the general public to support the initiative. All funds raised will be dispersed throughout New South Wales through The Salvation Army.

Beyond Bank Executive Manager Community Development, Peter Rutter, said the appeal will provide financial support to residents in this time of need.

"While the immediate danger for locals isn't over, and New South Wales is again bracing itself for more predicted hot conditions and wild weather, the painful process of cleaning up and rebuilding what's been lost has also begun. The Bush Fire Appeal will provide support to affected residents during the rebuilding process," said Mr Rutter.

"Our thoughts are with the residents, their friends and families and everyone who is affected by this disaster. We encourage anyone who wants to help to donate to the Bush Fire Appeal by calling us, visiting one of our local branches or by direct deposit. Details on how to donate are on Beyond Bank.

"We also want to make sure that members of Beyond Bank Australia know that we are here to help if they have been affected by the fires, and we're encouraging them to come and talk to us if they are concerned about their financial situation due to losses suffered in the blaze.

The Salvation Army's Major Jeff Winterburn welcomed the donation on behalf of the bushfire-affected regions.
