NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:
Domestic Transportation and Freight Forwarding Services Offer Highest Growth Opportunities for LSPs
This research service provides a benchmarking analysis for logistics service providers (LSPs) across five major countries in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) using key performance criteria. It also provides a comprehensive analysis of logistics outsourcing trends, use of organized 3PL service providers, and LSP performance ratings for important selection criteria based on end-user reviews. Further, the service discusses end-user preferences for multiple LSPs, reasons for outsourcing logistics, and typical contract durations with LSPs. The base year for this service is 2013.
Logistics Service Providers (LSPs)
For consistency reasons, LSPs considered for this study are defined as follows:
Specialist companies that provide services such as goods transportation by any mode, goods storage, freight forwarding and related activities in full or part. All the dedicated companies providing these services either on an ad-hoc basis or through contracts are included in this pool of logistics service providers. However, companies providing services such as courier and express document parcel are not considered in this study.
Contract Logistics Service Providers (LSPs)
For consistency reasons, LSPs considered for this study are defined as follows:
Specialist companies that provide organised and efficient goods transportation, goods storage, freight forwarding and related activities in full or part, on an outsourcing basis through contracts. Companies providing ad-hoc services in any of these activities are not included in this pool of logistics service providers. Also, companies providing services like courier and express document parcel, which are done more on a one-time basis, are not considered to be such providers.
Logistics End users
For consistency reasons, the logistics end users considered for this study are defined as follows:
Specialist companies that provide organised and efficient supply chain services on an express mode or time-definite delivery mode in full or part, on an outsourcing basis through contracts. Companies providing express document services like courier and express parcel, which are done more on a one-time basis, are not considered to be such providers.
Cold Chain LSPs
For consistency reasons, the cold chain LSPs considered for this study are defined as follows:
Specialist companies that provide organised and efficient supply chain services in a temperature controlled environment in full or part, on an outsourcing basis through contracts. Companies providing such services on an ad-hoc basis are not included in this pool of logistics service providers.
Introduction, Research Aims and Objectives
Frost & Sullivan regularly conducts "voice of the customer" research to identify key issues of end users with regards to their product/service providers.
The aim of the study is to research, analyse and identify the trends, preferences and challenges of LSPs for the benefit of its end users in five major Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.
• To evaluate end user's spending on logistics and its breakup by functions in each of the five major nations of GCC.
• To understand the logistics outsourcing patterns and reasons for outsourcing by end users within each of the five major GCC nations.
• To identify the most important determinant that influences LSP selection and satisfaction among the current end users.
• To understand the current level of third party logistics providers (3PL) services usage by end users and the most preferred contract period by end users.
• To gather feedback on the logistics challenges faced the end users.
• To analyse end user's opinion in identifying the most promising growth opportunity for LSPs.
Benefits for Readers of this Study
• It will help the LSPs to assess the frequency at which end users deploy various logistics functions in each of the five GCC nations; and channelise their resources on the highest opportunity functions.
• They will gain a better perspective on the end-user's reasons for outsourcing logistics, which will help them to build their capabilities accordingly, in order to gain competitive advantage.
• The study will help them to identify the most important parameter of LSP selection and build the necessary capabilities to gain competitive advantage.
• It will help track the uptake level of 3PL services and the most preferred contract period of the end users. The inferred data can be used to design strategies that help in market expansion.
• They can also understand what are the biggest challenges of logistics end users and build capabilities to address them successfully.
• They can also understand which are the activities with highest growth opportunities for contract LSPs and accordingly plan strategies to tap them.
For Logistics End Users:
• It will help end users to identify the best practices in logistics outsourcing, LSP usage practices, preferred LSPs types and key factors that influence LSP selection within end users in their own country and also in neighbouring GCC countries. It will also help end users gain a perspective on the preferences and challenges of industry peers along. Moreover, end users will also benefit from the data gathered on average logistics spending and its constituent functions within their country and other GCC countries.
Research Methodology and Sample Details
Research Methodology: Frost & Sullivan's research services are based on secondary and primary research data.
Secondary Research: Includes information extracted from Frost & Sullivan's database along with the data and information gathered from technical papers published in leading magazines, seminars and internet.
Primary Research: Interviewing the decision makers, chosen from a pool of 250 leading user companies across five GCC nations. Primary research accounted for 90% of the total research.
Total Logistics Industry Benchmarking: Sample of Participants, GCC, 2013
• The base (n) (number of respondent) for each country's data analysis, including charts, is X, and for the total GCC is X as shown above.
• End-user interviews are conducted through telephone or computer-assisted telephone interview (CATI).
• The survey was conducted from December 2012 to March 2013.
• Reporting notes: Due to rounding errors, percentages in charts and tables, may not add up toX.
