Jigabot Launches Robotic Auto-Framing System for Smartphones and Cameras at 2014 International CES

Jigabot® today announced its emergence from stealth mode with the launch of its robotic camera auto-framing system at the 2014 International CES®. Compatible with any smartphone or camera, the AIMe® mount and tracking system provides a hands-free way to keep a subject perfectly framed while shooting video during recreation, extreme sports and home-life activities. Jigabot will be demonstrating AIMe at CES booth No. 22064.

“With AIMe, Jigabot is introducing ‘lifestyle robotics’ – a new category of devices that make life more fun and more automated,” said Rick Stout, founder and CEO of Jigabot. “AIMe provides greater accuracy and a smoother operation for life’s everyday moments with the video devices people already use. We are excited to introduce AIMe to the world’s premier consumer technology audience at CES and help usher in the next evolution in personal robotics.”

Jigabot’s patent-pending AIMe technology features a robotic device that syncs with a sensor called EmIT®. Users simply attach EmIT to any subject (e.g., a skier, skateboarder, a child playing sports or performing at a recital) and mount AIMe with their smartphone or camera (e.g., iPhones, GoPro, digital cameras under 12 ounces) to automatically track the moving subject. AIMe simultaneously pans and tilts the camera in real time in response to the subject’s movements.

AIMe’s industry-standard upper and lower mounts can attach to any tri-pod or camera. Designed for consumers and filmmakers of any experience level, the easy-to-use system uses a silent, high-speed gearing system to remove unnecessary noise during filming. AIMe can be coupled with small lights or microphones as well. So three AIMe devices could be used together: the first to aim a camera, the second to aim a light, and the third to aim a microphone. Virtually limitless numbers of AIMe devices can follow one EmIT (or a “cloud” of EmITs) which have been set to the same “mode” or pulse pattern. Alternatively, EmITs may be easily configured to one of several different “modes” to enable multiple AIMe-EmIT combinations to be used in the same place at the same time.

“With perfect framing, AIMe makes sure you never miss the shot again,” added Stout. “In the case of extreme sports, it is vital to nail your first shot. Or if you want to film your child playing soccer, AIMe handles the filming, allowing you to be present in the moment while also preserving the moment for later viewing.”

Jigabot is led by a team of professional filmmakers, including Stout, who has written, directed and produced award-winning films, TV productions, corporate marketing pieces, business-development productions, training films, music videos and motion-graphics animations.

Pricing and Availability

AIMe, packaged with an EmIT sensor, will be available at www.jigabot.com for $299 in June, 2014.
