ENTSafety.com announces the launch of the 2014 design of the ENTSafety System for tonsil, adenoid and other throat surgeries.

VERNON, N.J., Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ENTSafety.com is on a mission to eliminate potentially risky and improvised surgical practices often found in throat surgeries.  While risks of mortality and morbidity in tonsillectomy and other throat surgeries are lower than for many procedures, risks remain and can be reduced.  The ENTSafety System is a surgical device and disposables uniquely designed to reduce the risk of injuries and complications associated with tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, laryngoscopies and other common throat surgeries. 

Our equipment, supplies and safety protocols are designed to help reduce the risk of post-tonsillectomy bleeds by improving surgeons' access to the throat, surgical efficiency and by stabilizing the patient's head during surgery.  Post-operative bleeds in tonsil surgery (post-tonsillar hemorrhages) can result when access is compromised by less than optimal angle or head stability.  The casual use of a mayo-style instrument stand to support mouth gags additionally can result in chipped and broken teeth, strained and dislocated jaws.  Fortunately, surgeons now have the option of implementing the ENTSafety System to reduce such risks.  ENTSafety supports the heightened attention being paid to safety procedures in throat surgeries as a consequence of public concern for Jahi McMath and her family. 

Surgeons have reported that their procedures are better organized and shorter in duration after incorporating the System.  Laryngoscopic throat surgeries can be significantly shorter and easier according to surgeons using the System.  Dr. Ramtin Kassir, a New York based ENT and cosmetic surgeon agrees, "The safety and efficiency of the ENTSafety System will undoubtedly become the standard of care."

For ten years, the designers of the ENTSafety System have been working to decrease risks in tonsil, adenoid, uvuloplasty and laryngoscopic throat surgeries.   

The ENTSafety System incorporates the input of hundreds of ENT surgeons seeking to improve on the historic procedures, instruments and equipment used in throat surgery.  Surgical facilities and hospitals may arrange trials of the hardware and purchases of disposable organizers.  Surgical facilities affiliated with the Kaiser Foundation, St. Josephs Health System, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Mayo Health System, Stony Brook University and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary are among facilities which have adopted the ENT Safety System into their surgical procedures.  The System is compatible with most tonsillectomy techniques including plasma blade, coblation and electrocautery and all laryngoscopic chest supports.
