Technicolor to Showcase New Technology Solutions to Enhance the Consumer Lifestyle and Entertainment Experience at 2014 International CES

LAS VEGAS and PARIS, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH), a technology leader in the media and entertainment sector teams with IBM, Samsung, and PSA Peugeot Citroen to bring to market leading technology solutions to enhance consumer experiences.

Following are some of the areas highlighted at CES 2014:

Innovative Image Technologies
Technicolor is applying the technology of the future today through 4K content streaming or HD to 4K upscaling, standardizing encoding and application of innovative technologies in Wide Color Gamut expansion, HDR Inverse Tone Mapping and Frame Rate Conversion that will speed the deployment of high-quality UHD experiences to the consumer.

In partnership with Samsung, M-GO, the pay-as-you-go digital movie and TV streaming service joint venture between Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation, has developed a comprehensive 4K streaming service to launch on Samsung UHD TVs in the spring of 2014. Whether the content is authored, post-produced or optimized for upscaling on TV, the mission is to provide consumers with the highest quality 4K image.

Virdata
For its new service Virdata, Technicolor has formed a relationship with IBM to provide device and application data analysis.  Virdata's device and application monitoring and management service features a real-time and historical big data analytics stack. Initial industries targeted by Virdata are consumer electronics, automotive, utilities, health, industrial automation and retail.

Both companies will demonstrate several implementations of its capabilities including: geo location and real time and historical data for a tablet; utilizing On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) to analyze performance data in a connected car as well as fleet management; and tracking patient data with a heartbeat monitor.

Automotive connectivity platform
Qeo, Technicolor' s software which enables devices and their content to interact with one another, has been selected by PSA Peugeot Citroen to leverage this  communications framework to deliver connected car services. The Citroen C4 Picasso is the first Qeo-enabled car, with enhanced interaction between the car and personal devices that enter and leave the home, or with devices within the home (such as an STB or TV set).  Hi-tech auto systems and components designer Magneti Marelli will deliver the software for the PSA entertainment and navigation platform.
