SMC Networks Expands Veloxite™ DOCSIS 3.0 Family with New 990 Mbps Wi-Fi 24x8 Cable Gateway

SMC Networks, a leading global provider of customer premises equipment (CPE) for the complete digital home, today announced the Veloxite D3G2408W, a 24x8 channel data gateway capable of downstream data rates of up to 990 Mbps.

The new gateway is the latest addition to the SMC Veloxite family of DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems, eMTAs and advanced wireless gateways. SMC launched the Veloxite family in 2013 to provide cable operators with a complete portfolio of downstream/ upstream channel configurations including 8x4 and 16x4 and now 24x8 for their residential, small office / home office and small-medium business markets.

The Veloxite product family will be demonstrated in the company’s suite at the Bellagio Hotel during CES 2014, which takes place from January 7-10, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nev.

High Performance Wi-Fi

The new Veloxite D3G2408W hosts a wireless daughter card for flexible Wi-Fi configurations. These include high power dual-band, dual concurrent 3x3 Wi-Fi and the latest in 802.11ac technology.

During testing at Allion Labs, an independent test laboratory located in Beaverton, OR, the D3G2408W achieved an actual TCP goodput rate of 755 Mbps. This performance, combined with the 235 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band, means that the Veloxite D3G2408W can drive an astonishing concurrent maximum TCP throughput of nearly 1Gbps of real Wi-Fi traffic.

The Veloxite D3G2408W gateway is IPv6 enabled and features quality of service (QoS) functionality that allows service providers to design policies to deliver IPTV and VoIP services. It also supports the TR-069 remote management standard to reduce configuration and management costs.
