Brookshire Grocery Co. and Empower Software Celebrate Successful Workforce Management System Implementation

Empower Software Solutions, a leading provider of workforce management (WFM) and human capital management (HCM) solutions, along with Brookshire Grocery Co. announce the successful system-wide implementation of EmpowerWFM in over 150 stores. Brookshire’s is now using the powerful scheduling engine in EmpowerWFM to create wall to wall store schedules in a fraction of the time of manual scheduling.

Another critical aspect of the solution that appealed to Brookshire’s team was ESS, or Employee Self Service. With ESS, employees can access their own time and shift schedule data from any web-enabled PC, or from an iPhone or Android mobile device. Giving employees access to their own data not only reduces the burden on management to be the conduit for this information, but employees love the visibility and control it gives them.

“We considered several workforce management alternatives, but after completing all the due diligence, it became clear that EmpowerWFM was the superior solution,” said John D’Anna, Senior Vice President – Chief Information Officer. “The track record of success with other retailers, particularly grocers, was impressive, and the Empower team was extremely responsive to our particular requirements.”

Implementation of EmpowerWFM at Brookshire’s was completed in the third quarter of 2013, and the results have exceeded expectations. “We have experienced an ROI that is several times greater than what we had projected for the first year, and the performance only continues to improve,” D’Anna said. “Not only are we seeing the labor savings we expected from optimized scheduling, but our employees have responded very positively to the new system. The well-being and satisfaction of our people is of paramount importance to us, and EmpowerWFM has helped us measurably improve our employee satisfaction and retention. ”

“We really are the industry experts for retail labor forecasting and scheduling,” added Joe Olson, General Manager for EmpowerWFM. “We have designed our WFM solution to be highly configurable around the client’s processes, and not vice-versa. For example, we configured management dashboards for Brookshire’s that incorporated real time data from EmpowerWFM and from their other systems, providing the Brookshire’s management team with comprehensive, up-to-the-minute analytical tools. The results speak for themselves.”
