HOUSTON, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Department of Pediatric Radiology at Texas Children's Hospital is excited to announce that Dr. Kamlesh U. Kukreja has been named the new chief of Interventional Radiology. Kukreja, whose appointment was effective Jan. 1, has also been appointed as Assistant Professor of radiology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Singleton Chief of Pediatric Radiology at Texas Children's and Professor of Radiology at BCM.
Kukreja's clinical interests include pediatric interventional oncology and management of thrombosis in children. His research focus is on pediatric cancer and venous thrombosis. He has authored more than 19 book chapters and publications in various academic and medical journals, and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Caffey Award for best electronic poster at the International Pediatric Radiology meeting in May 2006.
Kukreja previously served as a pediatric interventional radiologist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Rajiv Gandhi Medical College & Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in India. He completed his fellowship in pediatric radiology at Miami Children's Hospital, and his interventional radiology fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Kukreja is board certified in radiology and has also received a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Interventional Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
