Moogsoft Joins Open Data Center Alliance as a Contributing Member

Service assurance for the cloud will be shaped by innovation and open guidelines

San Francisco, CA and London, UK-January 14, 2014 - Moogsoft, the leading pioneer of service assurance solutions for managing cloud and hybrid infrastructures, has joined the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) as a contributor member.

ODCA's 300+ member companies work actively to shape the future of cloud computing based on open, interoperable solutions for secure cloud federation, automation, common management and transparency of cloud service delivery.

ODCA invited Moogsoft to contribute its expertise in service assurance to help build this vision. The Moogsoft team brings a strong pedigree of commitment to service assurance, both as a solution provider and an adopter of ODCA guidelines.

"We are deeply committed to ODCA's mission," said Dave Casper, CTO North America, Moogsoft. "Innovation and open guidelines are urgently needed to support successful, enterprise-scale cloud adoption. The widening disconnect between physical infrastructure (underlay) and services delivered (overlay) will wreak havoc if unaddressed. Moogsoft, working with the ODCA, will jointly develop solutions designed to keep the lights on."

A very important part of ODCA's work is defining usage models, which aim to create a uniform way of describing user requirements. ODCA has created usage models for compute infrastructure, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), data security, security monitoring, VM interoperability, SDN, scale out storage and more. The adoption and scope of ODCA usage models continues to grow.

"As an adopter of ODCA usage models, Moogsoft is taking a leadership role in advancing the deployment of enterprise cloud solutions and services that are interoperable, secure and free of vendor lock-in," said Marvin Wheeler, executive director, Open Data Center Alliance. "Dave Casper has made significant contributions to ODCA usage models and requirements in the past and we look forward to his continued involvement in helping to drive the development of open standards for enterprise cloud computing as CTO North America for Moogsoft."

A strange thing is happening along the way to the Internet of Things, namely far too many devices to work with and manage. It has become clear that we'll need much higher efficiency user experiences that can allow us to more easily and scalably work with the thousands of devices that will soon be in each of our lives. Enter the conversational interface revolution, combining bots we can literally talk with, gesture to, and even direct with our thoughts, with embedded artificial intelligence, whic...

Data scientists must access high-performance computing resources across a wide-area network. To achieve cloud-based HPC visualization, researchers must transfer datasets and visualization results efficiently. HPC clusters now compute GPU-accelerated visualization in the cloud cluster. To efficiently display results remotely, a high-performance, low-latency protocol transfers the display from the cluster to a remote desktop. Further, tools to easily mount remote datasets and efficiently transfer...
It is of utmost importance for the future success of WebRTC to ensure that interoperability is operational between web browsers and any WebRTC-compliant client.
