Teranga Completes Stream Transaction, Acquisition of Remaining Interest in OJVG and Retires US$30 Million of Debt Facility

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/16/14 -- Teranga Gold Corporation ("Teranga") (TSX: TGZ)(ASX: TGZ) today announced the completion of funding of US$135 million by Franco-Nevada Corporation ("Franco-Nevada") under the stream transaction announced on December 12, 2013. With the US$135 million received from Franco-Nevada, Teranga has completed the previously announced acquisition of the balance of the Oromin Joint Venture Group Ltd. ("OJVG") that it did not already own from Bendon International Ltd. and has retired US$30 million of its US$60 million debt facility with Macquarie Bank Limited. Concurrently, Teranga has acquired the Badr Investment & Finance Company under the terms previously announced for US$7.5 million.

"We are pleased to have completed this long-awaited transaction while achieving minimal dilution to our shareholders and providing greater strength to our balance sheet by reducing our debt facility by half. We look forward to the integration of operations with a larger reserve base and higher production. The combination provides us with significant operating flexibility through sequencing of multiple deposits, to allow for greater maximization of free cash flows. We are now well positioned and expect to see real value creation for our shareholders in the years ahead," said Richard Young, President and Chief Executive Officer, Teranga Gold.

The Company expects to announce the highlights of its anticipated combined operations integrating the OJVG, including updated reserves with its year end operating results announced with its ASX Report at the end of January and expects to file the technical report for the combined operations before the end of the first quarter of 2014.

Eighty percent of a data scientist’s time is spent gathering and cleaning up data, and 80% of all data is unstructured and almost never analyzed. Cognitive computing, in combination with Big Data, is changing the equation by creating data reservoirs and using natural language processing to enable analysis of unstructured data sources. This is impacting every aspect of the analytics profession from how data is mined (and by whom) to how it is delivered. This is not some futuristic vision: it's ha...

As enterprises work to take advantage of Big Data technologies, they frequently become distracted by product-level decisions. In most new Big Data builds this approach is completely counter-productive: it presupposes tools that may not be a fit for development teams, forces IT to take on the burden of evaluating and maintaining unfamiliar technology, and represents a major up-front expense. In his session at @BigDataExpo at @ThingsExpo, Andrew Warfield, CTO and Co-Founder of Coho Data, will dis...
In most cases, it is convenient to have some human interaction with a web (micro-)service, no matter how small it is. A traditional approach would be to create an HTTP interface, where user requests will be dispatched and HTML/CSS pages must be served. This approach is indeed very traditional for a web site, but not really convenient for a web service, which is not intended to be good looking, 24x7 up and running and UX-optimized. Instead, talking to a web service in a chat-bot mode would be muc...
