Unite Private Networks Completes Construction of Dallas Metro Fiber Network

Begins Providing Service Under Long Term Contract to Dallas Independent School District

DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 01/20/14 -- Unite Private Networks (UPN) recently announced completion of its Dallas metro fiber-optic network and also initiation of 10 Gbps WAN services to the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). UPN provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and related services to school districts, governments, carriers, data centers, hospitals and enterprise businesses across a 20 state service area.

According to Gray Salada, DISD Chief Technology Officer, the network is a key component of the Districts' technology modernization program creating a state of the art digital environment in the classroom. "The new network provides students and teachers the flexibility and capacity to access digital resources across the globe facilitating research, communications, and collaboration as well as supporting on-line curriculum and assessments."

Randy Wright, Director of Education Sales at UPN, noted that the Unite Private Networks fiber network provides 272 DISD facilities with up to 10 Gigabits of bandwidth for each site. "This network is one of the largest and most robust fiber-optic networks in the United States. The fiber-optic WAN will be more than 20 times faster and far more reliable than what the District previously had in place. We are happy to support DISD and excited they chose us to be their long-term partner."
