Activists Encouraged to Voice Opinions on Press the President
WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Activists from around the United States will be remembering the Roe v Wade decision handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court over 40 years ago this week. Rallies will be held in Washington, DC and nationwide, both in support of and in opposition of a woman's right to choose during pregnancy. As members of the Washington D.C. community who are actively involved in women's issues, it is an activist's job to be at the forefront of these discussions, and Press the President is a political forum that will allow activists to get their voices heard.
In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled abortion legal in a 7-2 decision. This decision was a major milestone for many women's rights groups, and has been the subject of debate since it was ruled legal. Press the President, an online collaborative blog, is encouraging activists to post commentary and video about how the Roe v Wade decision has affected them on its site. Once posted, activists can share their thoughts with other activists as well as their own social networks via Facebook and Twitter.
"The issue of a woman's right to choose is one of the most personal and controversial issues in U.S. history and still remains so today," said the Founder of Press the President. "Around the U.S., we are seeing laws get voted upon or passed trying to alter the decision made by the U.S. Supreme Court. There are citizens who clearly have mixed feelings about the current law of the land and Press the President urges them to comment about them on our website."
Press the President is a worldwide forum for unfiltered debate about U.S. issues that affect the globe. The site's founders have created a space where writers can express their opinions freely. Americans are often criticized as not having enough of a political voice. It is interested in people who want to make their voices heard from the White House to Main Street. Online visitors can share their views at www.pressthepresident.com or visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ptp.us to join in our weekly debates.
