VShell 4.0 Server from VanDyke Software Improves Automation Options for Network Administrators

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- VanDyke Software®, a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and file transfer software, today announced the official release of the VShell® 4.0 server.  VShell 4.0 for Windows adds flexibility to the application's automation triggers and allows access to all VShell services for the internal user database.

"With VShell 4.0 for Windows, we responded to network administrators' need to increase productivity by providing additional automation support," said Chris McElveny, VanDyke Software's Product Director for VShell.  "VShell's triggers allow automated responses to server events like failed logon attempts or uploaded files.  The 4.0 release expands the trigger options, allowing administrators to have multiple triggers of the same type, multiple actions for each trigger, as well as the ability to specify trigger conditions by user, group, and virtual root conditions.  This gives our customers more flexibility and greater control."

VShell 4.0 for Windows also expands services available to the internal user database.  In addition to file transfer, internal users now have access to all VShell services, including shell, remote exec, port forward, and remote port forward.  On all platforms, server bandwidth control can be throttled on a global, user/group, or location basis, and support for SHA-2 MAC algorithms provides improved security compared to SHA-1 and complies with NIST requirements.

The VShell Secure Shell server replaces Telnet and FTP for secure network administration and end-user access on Windows and UNIX platforms.  Precision control over privileges, the ability to fine-tune the Secure Shell environment, and a wide selection of strong authentication methods provide a flexible solution that grows with evolving business and security environments.

Adding public cloud resources to an existing application can be a daunting process. The tools that you currently use to manage the software and hardware outside the cloud aren’t always the best tools to efficiently grow into the cloud. All of the major configuration management tools have cloud orchestration plugins that can be leveraged, but there are also cloud-native tools that can dramatically improve the efficiency of managing your application lifecycle. Deploying applications in hybrid cloud environments is hard work. Your team spends most of the time maintaining your infrastructure, configuring dev/test and production environments, and deploying applications across environments – which can be both time consuming and error prone. But what if you could automate provisioning and deployment to deliver error free environments faster? What could you do with your free time?
Up until last year, enterprises that were looking into cloud services usually undertook a long-term pilot with one of the large cloud providers, running test and dev workloads in the cloud. With cloud’s transition to mainstream adoption in 2015, and with enterprises migrating more and more workloads into the cloud and in between public and private environments, the single-provider approach must be revisited. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Yoav Mor, multi-cloud solution evangelist at Cloudy...

Qosmos has announced new milestones in the detection of encrypted traffic and in protocol signature coverage. These new classification techniques mean that traffic optimization, policy enforcement, and user experience are largely unaffected by encryption. In respect wit...
