Silver Spring Networks Strengthens Multi-Vendor Interoperability by Completing Wi-SUN Alliance Certification for IEEE 802.15.4g PHY Across Gen4 Portfolio

Silver Spring Networks, Inc. (NYSE:SSNI), a leading networking platform and solutions provider for smart energy networks, today announced the successful completion of Wi-SUN Alliance certification for the IEEE 802.15.4g PHY supported across its Gen4 product portfolio. As one of the first in a group of vendors to complete certification, Silver Spring has helped establish open, standards-based smart utility networks for customers to leverage.

Open communications protocols and standards are crucial to helping ensure interoperability as utilities and network operators deploy increasingly complex networks with millions of endpoint devices. IEEE 802.15.4g is a global standard that harmonizes the physical layer of a wide variety of deployed wireless infrastructure systems, and specifies standard power levels, data rates, modulations, and frequency bands for the large scale, outdoor and topographically challenging environments of smart energy networks. The Wi-SUN Alliance certification regimen helps ensure the conformance of, and interoperability between, IEEE 802.15.4g implementations.
