Databox Selected as Finalist for 2014 SXSW Accelerator Competition

Databox, the mobile-first executive dashboard was selected as a finalist in the Enterprise and Big Data Technologies category for the 6th annual SXSW Accelerator competition. The two-day event will be held the first weekend of SXSW Interactive, Saturday, March 8th-9th, 2014.

“Our mission is to structure complex data in a simple and intuitive way. While everyone is talking about big data, Databox is putting in the hands of executives and line of business managers when they need it on their mobile devices.” said Davorin Gabrovec, CEO of Databox. “Being recognized as a SXSW finalist, is a clear indicator that our App is resonating with our users as they choose Databox over the competitors.

Databox is a mobile dashboard with a powerful platform that can connect to any data source—cloud services, BI tools, custom databases, excel files and more—and enable executives to have real-time visibility into their company data. With a simple and intuitive solution for smartphones, Databox is tackling a huge gap in the business intelligence (BI) and Big Data market. According to Gartner, the use of mobile BI increased 42 percent year-over-year in 2013 but has the lowest satisfaction rate among existing BI customers.

"The expectation continues to rise sharply for great enterprise mobile Apps, especially around business intelligence. One of the most requested Apps coming from enterprise is an executive dashboard. Databox is quickly becoming the platform of choice for executives and managers who demand the best user experience that allows them to get just-in-time information they need to make critical decisions when they are mobile.” said Chuck Goldman, a former Director of Apple Enterprise, who is on the company’s advisory board.

The race for the industry’s best mobile BI platform is heating up and Databox has accelerated past the more established mobile BI platforms by being recognized in 2013 by winning the Best Big Data Startup award by SAP.

I wanted to gather all of my Internet of Things (IOT) blogs into a single blog (that I could later use with my University of San Francisco (USF) Big Data “MBA” course). However as I started to pull these blogs together, I realized that my IOT discussion lacked a vision; it lacked an end point towards which an organization could drive their IOT envisioning, proof of value, app dev, data engineering and data science efforts. And I think that the IOT end point is really quite simple…
