The Best Way to Get Around Eckerd College: UhaulCarShare

Eckerd College welcomes the addition of a new car to their growing UhaulCarShare fleet.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Eckerd College is the latest UhaulCarShare partner to welcome a new addition to their growing fleet. The school has partnered with UhaulCarShare since 2012, and continues to expand due to the popularity and convenience the program offers.

Originally, the college offered two 2012 Toyota Prius cars. For those looking for a little more horsepower, the college recently added a new 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck. This vehicle will be located at 4200 54th Avenue South in the Beta parking lot, and the vehicle will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Eckerd College has been delighted with UhaulCarShare from the first day the program became available to the campus community," Frederick Sabota, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Campus Activities. "The program solved the long standing issue of providing transportation to students who do not own a vehicle to travel off campus. Families have expressed gratitude for the availability of vehicles and for the financial relief provided by UhaulCarShare."

How It Works
UhaulCarShare is the latest in advanced technology for car-sharing services. Students, faculty and staff can drive away in minutes following a simple three-step process: join, reserve and drive. All you need is a valid driver's license. Go to UhaulCarShare.com on your home computer or mobile device; fill out your information, take a picture of your driver's license and a picture of yourself, and you are ready to begin sharing! No need to wait for a membership card or approval - you can drive away within minutes.  Members pay only for what they use, in one low hourly rate starting at $4.95 per hour (plus $0.59 per mile).  For those who drive longer distances, UhaulCarShare also offers rates with 180 free miles, starting at $8.50 per hour, depending on the vehicle.

Why It's Great
UhaulCarShare allows you access to a vehicle by the hour without the hassle of gas, insurance, parking fees and maintenance costs. Drivers 18 or older simply pay for what they use – as little as one hour to three days. UhaulCarShare offers different plans to ensure that you find the best option for you. The environmental benefits are endless as well. Each shared car takes 15-20 personally owned vehicles off the road, reduces parking congestion and improves air quality.

"The program fits the environmental culture that is valued at Eckerd College," Sabota noted. "Eckerd College is excited about the continued growth of this essential asset to the community."
