CHAPEL HILL, NC -- (Marketwired) -- 01/29/14 -- CargoSphere, the leading, cloud-based global rate management solution and confidential Rate Mesh network for the ocean and air transportation and logistics industries, today announces the completion of Blu Logistics' integration with CargoSphere's freight rate management solution. Blu Logistics, a global logistics company offering sea and air freight services, customs brokerage, ground transportation, and warehousing, previously outsourced freight rate and contract management. By changing over to a self-managed system Blu Logistics has significantly reduced the cost of managing this business process area.
Within two months, Blu entered 17 confidential carrier contracts using CargoSphere's SUDS (Smart Upload and Diagnostic Solution) which reads external rate data directly from any carrier contract format and loads it into a standardized rate system database. With this progress, Blu Logistics is automating the time-consuming and tedious task of managing and processing voluminous carrier contracts and numerous contract amendments in-house.
Additionally, Blu Logistics is actively building a confidential rate sharing network with trusted parties (such as neutral NVOCCs) over CargoSphere's Rate Mesh to add shared LCL rates to their entered contract rates to build a vaster, more robust price quoting database.
"When we sat down with CargoSphere, we didn't think self-management of our carrier contracts would be possible. But after seeing SUDS demonstrated, we were convinced that this was finally a software solution that truly addressed the need to convert static contract files, many in spreadsheet format, to an automated, standardized database. SUDS is intelligent thinking that enables greater internal rate controls and a preferable alternative to the outsourcing model," said Carrie Dollear, Director Strategic Relationships and Revenue Management, Blu Logistics.
"We are pleased that Blu Logistics has joined our connected, collaborative community and is already seeing the efficiency benefits of in-house processing of carrier contracts with SUDS. Blu Logistics has already achieved an impressive milestone building a comprehensive rate database which will assist them in expanding their scope of global freight services," said Neil Barni, President of CargoSphere.

Established in 1999, CargoSphere powers the industry's first cloud-based, confidential global rate solution and Rate Mesh Network. CargoSphere is enabling a paradigm shift from outsourced contract management to self-management through innovative technology like SUDS (Smart Upload and Diagnostic Solution). SUDS intelligently reads static carrier-rate files directly into the CargoSphere cloud database. It significantly reduces the complexity and time-consuming task of managing freight rate contracts.
CargoSphere's world-class contract and rate management functionality enables rate quoting, rate distribution and agent rate collaboration through the CargoSphere Rate Mesh. CargoSphere allows each of its global clients to create a private network of trusted parties. The Rate Mesh seamlessly and confidentially connects trading partners allowing them to integrate and simplify rate communication.

Adding public cloud resources to an existing application can be a daunting process. The tools that you currently use to manage the software and hardware outside the cloud aren’t always the best tools to efficiently grow into the cloud. All of the major configuration management tools have cloud orchestration plugins that can be leveraged, but there are also cloud-native tools that can dramatically improve the efficiency of managing your application lifecycle. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, ...

Choosing the right cloud for your workloads is a balancing act that can cost your organization time, money and aggravation - unless you get it right the first time. Economics, speed, performance, accessibility, administrative needs and security all play a vital role in dictating your approach to the cloud. Without knowing the right questions to ask, you could wind up paying for capacity you'll never need or underestimating the resources required to run your applications.

Up until last year, enterprises that were looking into cloud services usually undertook a long-term pilot with one of the large cloud providers, running test and dev workloads in the cloud. With cloud’s transition to mainstream adoption in 2015, and with enterprises migrating more and more workloads into the cloud and in between public and private environments, the single-provider approach must be revisited. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Yoav Mor, multi-cloud solution evangelist at Cloudy...
