Overall, the objective of this research study is to identify trends within the automotive
tools market for the following products:
•Batteries
•Tires
•Motor oil
•Brake pads

Specifically, the goal of this research is to:
•Measure factors driving selection of the X products
•Identify which of the Xproducts has the greatest growth opportunities
•Determine brand use and preference trends within each of the X categories
•Understand how each product brand is perceived and how those perceptions may be driving selection

Methodology

Methodology
The survey was administered using a computer-assisted telephone interview methodology during May 2013.

Sample
In total, Xautomotive technicians were surveyed. To qualify as a respondent, automotive technicians must have worked at least Xhours per week and physically worked on vehicles on at least a weekly basis.
Respondents represented automotive repair shops of various types across the United States. Shop types included new-vehicle dealership service departments, franchised auto repair shops, and independent auto repair shops.

Research History
Frost & Sullivan has been tracking the automotive replacement parts industry via automotive technicians since 2008. When applicable, this research compares data trending as far back as 2008. The following slide displays the total sample sizes of the past collected data. Of notable mention, this research was not conducted in 2012—thus, no historical data is presented for 2012.
