Silect releases a free management pack development tool for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager users

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- As part of their mandate to bring better software monitoring, reporting and management solutions to IT applications and systems, Silect Software, engineered a new management pack development tool—Silect MP Author—available for free from

MP Author allows users to easily design and develop new management packs or customize existing management packs for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager. Whether the IT application or system—requiring System Center Operations Manager management and monitoring---is common or custom, MP Author allows users to develop management packs without needing XML skills. Utilizing a wizard-driven designer and a simple, intuitive browse and select interface, MP Author guides users through pre-populated and pre-configured steps to design new and/or customize existing management packs to specifically meet their unique business needs.

"We are continuing to invest in our products that extend Microsoft System Center, with the development of Silect MP Author," said Ken Marcia, CEO of BridgeWays, Inc., the parent company of Silect Software. "As a leading provider of management packs for Microsoft System Center, we know it's difficult for a management pack to come out-of-the-box completely geared to meet the needs of a specific business scenario. MP Author resolves this challenge by allowing users to create and/or modify management packs, whether those users are developers or not."

Unlike other existing and complicated management pack authoring processes, MP Author leverages BridgeWays and Silect's own expertise, as well as industry best practices to pre-configure settings—while still allowing settings to be modified—ensuring maximum flexibility for the IT pro.

"System Center is designed for extensibility, and we are pleased that Silect has chosen to develop MP Author to help users create and customize management packs to suit their particular needs," said Brian Hillger, Director, Product Marketing, Microsoft. "Customers in diverse IT environments can use MP Author to help maximize the benefits of System Center."
