"Pancakes are really one of the most versatile foods with worldwide appeal," said Andy Heily, SVP Sales & Marketing at Continental Mills, parent company of Krusteaz. "Almost every country has some type of pancake dish.  Although commonly served during breakfast, there are some delicious savory versions that are excellent for lunch or dinner. They really are a perfect meal for any time of the day."

Pancakes are an ideal blank canvas for flavor, and work well with mix-ins and toppings like seasonal or frozen fruit and berries or even more decadent ingredients like chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs and mini-marshmallows for a S'Mores Pancake. For dinner, carrot nut pancakes, coconut orange pancakes or even crepes stuffed with any number of savory ingredients such as crumbled bacon, hickory smoked ham or your favorite grilled vegetables and cheeses, are easy ways to take a break from the boring baked chicken routine!

Go Ahead, Play with your Food!

Perfect Pancakes Every Time: Tips from the Krusteaz Experts

Krusteaz pancake mixes are so easy to use and always result with light, fluffy and delicious pancakes every time.  Even if you make a larger batch in advance or have left overs, pancakes freeze well when fully cooked, which makes meal time even easier for the busiest of families. To make sure your pancakes hit the mark every time, Krusteaz has several tips that will help to ensure a perfect stack of pancakes such as:

  • Add an ice cube into cold tap water before mixing. The colder the water, the fluffier the pancake.
  • Over-mixing your batter leads to tough and rubbery pancakes. Just mix the batter enough to moisten the dry ingredients. Any lumps will disappear when cooked.
  • Pancakes should only be flipped once. An easy way to tell when they're ready to turn is when the top is full of air holes, and the edges start looking slightly crisp.
  • If you're cooking for a large group, the best way to keep pancakes warm is to place them, single-layered, on a cookie sheet in a warm oven. This also prevents them from becoming soggy.
