Colony South Hotel and Conference Center Selected as the Official Hotel for the Bill Pickett Invitational Championship Rodeo in Washington DC

CLINTON, Md., Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Colony South Hotel and Conference Center in Clinton, Maryland, is pleased to announce that they were selected as the official hotel for the Bill Pickett Invitational Championship Rodeo coming to the Washington, DC area in September of 2014. "Colony South is excited to announce that we were selected as the official hotel for the Bill Pickett Invitational Championship Rodeo." said Michele Jones, Director of Sales and Marketing at Colony South Hotel and Conference Center. "It is especially exciting to announce this during Black History Month given the significant contributions to history made by Bill Pickett." she said.

The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo, started in 1984, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Bill Pickett was an African American cowboy that invented bull-dogging, a technique used to catch and bring back wild cattle and for breaking and gentling wild horses. He and three of his brothers may have been the first black entrepreneurs in Taylor, Williamson County located in south central Texas. Together they operated a business called "Pickett Bros. Bronco Busters and Rough Riders Association." Not only did Pickett use his innovative technique "bull-dogging" for business, he also was the first to promote it in a specialty act.

Pickett's success and notoriety as the "only professional bulldogger in the world" caught the attention of the Miller Brothers who's 101 Ranch Wild West Show in Oklahoma was quickly becoming the best such entertainment in the country. Bill Pickett was one of the most colorful characters in the Wild West Show and rodeos and was inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City in 1971. He was the first black athlete to be so honored. The Bill Pickett Rodeo will be at the Show Place Area and Prince George's Equestrian Center September 19th.

"We are as excited for this opportunity as I know the residents of the DC area, specifically the residents of Prince George's County, are to see the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo." Jones says.

Digital Transformation is the ultimate goal of cloud computing and related initiatives. The phrase is certainly not a precise one, and as subject to hand-waving and distortion as any high-falutin' terminology in the world of information technology. Yet it is an excellent choice of words to describe what enterprise IT—and by extension, organizations in general—should be working to achieve. Digital Transformation means: handling all the data types being found and created in the organizat...
