Telecoms system integrators, distributors and telcos have a unique opportunity to partner with Iskratel to deploy a working SDN application, ready for access and flow-based switching immediately
STOCKHOLM, Sweden and KRANJ, Slovenia. 4 February 2014 At FTTH Conference 2014, Iskratel, one of the world leaders in InfoCommunications, is looking to add new partners as it continues to expand and prepares for its ready-to-deploy Software Defined Networking (SDN) solution to surge in demand.
SDN is an emerging technology set to revolutionize networking in 2014, impacting everyone including network operators, vendors, service providers and platform developers by improving flexibility, lowering OPEX and boosting the customer experience.
"As far as I know, we are the only vendor that has an SDN solution on broadband access that could be integrated and switched on tomorrow if required," said Janko Öri, CTO of Iskratel. "Now that we have the technology in place, we are searching for a wide range of in region partners in Scandinavia, Western Europe and beyond, who have customers itching to test and deploy SDN."
Late last year Iskratel announced that it was the first solution provider to implement and deploy an SDN application. Called Iskratel ISA (Intelligent Service Access) architecture, the solution helps operators find themselves on a safe and secure path towards fully SDN-enabled service-delivery networks.
"Our primary objective at the FTTH Conference is to expand our partner network, but we will also be announcing the general availability of our end-to-end vectoring solution which covers CPE, access and management. Our aim is to solve interoperability challenges associated with vectoring by providing a complete solution including CPEs," added Uroš Pivk, Iskratel Sales Director, Region West.
Iskratel has more than 60 years of experience in telecommunications. Alongside its SDN-ready technology it also has hybrid access solutions with board- and system-level vectoring on copper and P2P/GPON fibre-based solutions on show at the conference.

Just over a week ago I received a long and loud sustained applause for a presentation I delivered at this year’s Cloud Expo in Santa Clara. I was extremely pleased with the turnout and had some very good conversations with many of the attendees. Over the next few days I had many more meaningful conversations and was not only happy with the results but also learned a few new things. Here is everything I learned in those three days distilled into three short points.

DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support. With recent technological advances from Isomorphic Software and others, rich desktop and tuned mobile experiences can now be created with a single codebase – without compromising functionality, performance or usability. In his session at DevOps Su...

In demand-intensive mobile and web applications, an emerging pattern is to host the Systems of Engagement in the cloud (for maximum responsiveness) but keep the Systems of Record with the other important business systems in the company datacenter, often on a tightly secured mainframe. But what about the space in between? In this IBM Redpaper publication, we show that the IBM Bluemix cloud platform offers technologies that make it easy for cloud-based SoEs to securely connect to on-premises IBM...
