LONDON, February 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

EF Education First, the world leader in language training for business, government and the education sector, announced today the signing of a Letter of Acceptance with Republic of Tatarstan's Ministry of Education, taking their partnership into its second phase for another four years.

The first phase of the partnership was the co-development of Ana Tele, an online school based on EF's cloud-based platform for studying Tatar. The project aims to preserve the Tatar culture and its language which, in addition to Russian, is the official language of the Republic. Ana Tele has taught 10,000 students during its first year. The second phase involves over 40,000 students, taught by teachers provided by the Ministry, while EF provides support and maintenance of the Ana Tele school.

The Ministry's investments in language training were also recently expanded to include English training via EF's online school- training more than 5,000 teachers, students, professors, and public sector employees.

Peter Burman, President of EF Corporate Language Learning Solutions, commented: "We are extremely proud to be the long term partner of the Republic of Tatarstan in these prestigious projects."  Mr Burman continues: "We are unique in that we can easily scale our resources to address the entire population of 4 million citizens with an affordable cloud-based school featuring live teacher classes."

Fattakovh Engel Navapovich, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic said, "Education is a key priority for the Republic of Tatarstan. EF's online learning platform has allowed us to reinforce use of the Tatar language, which is integral to our heritage and culture, while also focusing on the future by learning English. We are very proud of Ana Tele and results from this partnership and look forward to continued success over the next four years."

EF already partners with various government entities to help thousands of teachers, students and public sector employees in language training, including the Saudi Ministry of Education (T4EDU) and the Saudi Electronic University, The French Ministries of Defense and Interior. EF is also the Official Language Training supplier to the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 to 70,000 participants of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee.
