Spanning Cloud Apps, the leading provider of data backup and recovery for cloud applications, today announced the availability of a new report published by Forrester Research, Inc., focused on the cloud-to-cloud backup market. Titled, “Back Up Your Critical Cloud Data Before It’s Too Late” and written by Forrester Senior Analyst Rachel Dines, the February 2014 report describes how, “during the past few years, a new class of backup software provider has emerged: cloud-to-cloud.” Earlier in the report, Dines writes about several different causes of unrecoverable data within SaaS applications, including user error, malicious activity and other reasons. The report is available for download from Spanning.
“Your Customers expect data and services — both on-premises and in the cloud — to be available immediately whenever and wherever they require them,” according to the report. “Waiting for days or weeks for the recovery of lost data or being informed that data is unrecoverable is unacceptable for most end users. As more critical data is deployed in the cloud, it’s time for [infrastructure and operations] leaders to be proactive and invest in mitigating these risks instead of waiting for data loss to occur.”
The report outlines several steps that readers can take if they are concerned about losing critical data with a SaaS provider, including working with a cloud-to-cloud backup provider. They also include a list of examples of Cloud-To-Cloud Backup Service Providers, including Spanning.
“It’s abundantly clear that cloud apps are on the cusp of mainstream adoption in the enterprise,” said Jeff Erramouspe, CEO of Spanning Cloud Apps. “We’re really pleased to see Forrester publish a dedicated report on, in our opinion, the significant problem of unprotected cloud data and the need for IT leaders to take a proactive approach now before it’s too late.”

Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation.
