-- The organizing Committee of Offshore Marintec Russia has changed the dates of the event. The new international exhibition and conference on shipbuilding and development of shelf infrastructure will begin on 7 October and will finish on 10 October 2014
HONG KONG, Feb. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Organised by UBM and RESTEC Exhibition Company, Offshore Marintec Russia is a unique project for the Russian exhibition market, which will bring together the most important measures to develop infrastructure of the continental shelf: shipbuilding and shipping, offshore oil and gas, information technologies and communications, logistics, industrial safety and environmental protection. Leading Russian and world companies will exchange experiences in the issues of technological supply, shipbuilding and development of the marine complex structures on the shelf zone.
The project will continue the best traditions of the forum RAO/CIS Offshore, which has been held for more than 20 years in St. Petersburg, and the world-famous network of exhibitions on shipbuilding and marine technologies, Marintec.
The Exhibition is formed actively. The event aroused great interest in the industry market, and currently companies that have already indicated an intention to participate include Rosneft, Gazprom, Gazflot, United Shipbuilding Corporation, the largest oil and gas companies of Russia, Roller, Vineta, Electropribor, scientific centers and design bureaus. Foreign participation will include joint exhibits from China, South Korea, Norway and other countries.
Offshore Marintec Russia's business program includes the plenary session and four sessions on the following issues:
- Creation of a modern fleet for the development of the continental shelf of Russia;
- Future technologies and equipment for the construction of offshore oil and gas installations;
- Priority oil and gas projects on the continental shelf of Russia.
This year, Offshore Marintec Russia will be held jointly with the Gas Forum, which will undoubtedly enhance its part of the business program.
Running alongside the exhibition, the 4th St Petersburg International Gas Forum will be held with the support of Gazprom. The principal objective of the Forum is to provide a platform for substantive dialogue between international gas companies and key partners for large-scale projects: engineering companies, investors, innovative developers and equipment suppliers. The programme has been designed to consolidate Russia's status as one of the key players in the global gas market and to formulate strategic solutions to developing and optimising the resource base of the global economy. Events at the Forum are organised and take place with the participation of gas industry companies and associations, together with the assistance of leading industry experts. The Forum also includes a large exhibition programme focusing on current trends in the gas industry, as well as on new projects to develop innovative technologies in the oil and gas sector.
Offshore Marintec Russia 2014 will be held in St. Petersburg, the maritime capital of Russia. Here, the largest Russian port presents all aspects and types of shipbuilding: world-known design institutes and design offices, yards and industrial enterprises account for 90% of the capacity of scientific and design potential of the industry and 30% of the total shipbuilding of the country.
The event will be held in ExpoForum, a new and modern venue in St. Petersburg. The complex will provide all necessary infrastructure and hold events according to international standards. It is located near the Pulkovo International Airport, from which visitors could easily reach any district in the city with convenient transport.

Without a clear strategy for cost control and an architecture designed with cloud services in mind, costs and operational performance can quickly get out of control. To avoid multiple architectural redesigns requires extensive thought and planning. All organizations that did not originate this moment have a pre-existing culture as well as legacy technology and processes that can be more or less amenable to DevOps implementation. That organizational culture is influenced by the personalities and management styles of Executive Management, the wider culture in which the organization is situated, and the personalities of key team members at all levels of the organization. This culture and entrenched interests usually throw a wrench in the work...

My team embarked on building a data lake for our sales and marketing data to better understand customer journeys. This required building a hybrid data pipeline to connect our cloud CRM with the new Hadoop Data Lake. One challenge is that IT was not in a position to provide support until we proved value and marketing did not have the experience, so we embarked on the journey ourselves within the product marketing team for our line of business within Progress. In his session at @BigDataExpo, Sum...

Virtualization over the past years has become a key strategy for IT to acquire multi-tenancy, increase utilization, develop elasticity and improve security. And virtual machines (VMs) are quickly becoming a main vehicle for developing and deploying applications. The introduction of containers seems to be bringing another and perhaps overlapped solution for achieving the same above-mentioned benefits. Are a container and a virtual machine fundamentally the same or different? And how? Is one techn...

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. A Nutanix Enterprise Cloud has many benefits that provide the needed base for a true DevOps paradigm.

As software becomes more and more complex, we, as software developers, have been splitting up our code into smaller and smaller components. This is also true for the environment in which we run our code: going from bare metal, to VMs to the modern-day Cloud Native world of containers, schedulers and micro services. While we have figured out how to run containerized applications in the cloud using schedulers, we've yet to come up with a good solution to bridge the gap between getting your contain...

Apache Hadoop is emerging as a distributed platform for handling large and fast incoming streams of data. Predictive maintenance, supply chain optimization, and Internet-of-Things analysis are examples where Hadoop provides the scalable storage, processing, and analytics platform to gain meaningful insights from granular data that is typically only valuable from a large-scale, aggregate view. One architecture useful for capturing and analyzing streaming data is the Lambda Architecture, represent...
