Houston Dash to debut official jerseys; uniforms sponsored by BBVA Compass

- Bank is the Official Jersey Partner of newest women's professional soccer team

HOUSTON, Feb. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Houston Dash will debut their team jerseys Friday evening at BBVA Compass Stadium, where the bank will celebrate its 5-year commitment to outfitting the nation's newest professional women's soccer team.

The Dash entered the National Women's Soccer League as an expansion team for the 2014 season. BBVA Compass' logo on the team's jerseys underscores the bank's commitment to bringing the global sport of soccer to the city and beyond. It currently sponsors Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo, which plays at BBVA Compass Stadium in the city's East End.

"The Dash athletes are exceptional role models for our city, and it is a great honor to see our logo on their jerseys," BBVA Compass Houston City President Mark Montgomery said of the bank's status as the team's Official Jersey Partner.

Montgomery said the bank will work with the Dash on several community initiatives, including renovating a house and hosting a youth soccer clinic in the East End, which will help introduce Houston's newest sports stars to their adopted city. The efforts will further the bank's partnership with the Dynamo and Dynamo Charities for their Building a Better Houston campaign, which was started in 2012 to revitalize the neighborhood around BBVA Compass Stadium.

"BBVA Compass has always been a tremendous sponsor of the Houston Dynamo," said Dash Managing Director Brian Ching, the Dynamo's all-time leading scorer who retired earlier this year. "We've formed a great partnership over the years, so we're excited to make the Houston Dash a part of it. I can't think of a better company in Houston to be associated with."

The Houston Dash is owned by the Dynamo ownership group and operated by the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer. Randy Waldrum, previously the head coach of the Notre Dame women's soccer team, is the head coach of the Dash.

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...
