NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 02/10/14 -- Digital First Media today announced Sharon Ryan has been named President and Publisher of the Bay Area News Group, which is comprised of 11 daily newspapers including the San Jose Mercury News, The Contra Costa Times and the Oakland Tribune.
"Sharon has a proven record of leadership as a senior member of the Bay Area News Group team. She has a results-oriented focus and is committed to the Company's vision," said Steven B. Rossi, Digital First Media's Chief Operating Officer. "I look forward to seeing the Bay Area Group flourish under her leadership."

In addition to her role as President and Publisher of the Bay Area News Group, Ms. Ryan will continue to serve as Chief Financial Officer of the California Newspapers Partnership, the largest newspaper company in California.
Ms. Ryan joined CNP in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer and last year also assumed the role of Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Bay Area Group. Prior to joining CNP Ms. Ryan held executive positions at the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the San Luis Obispo Tribune. She started her career in the industry at the Chicago Tribune.
Ms. Ryan lives in San Jose with her husband Randy and two children.
