Grand Junction Enhances Its Industry-Leading Local Delivery Software; Approaches 65 Million Deliveries Managed

Grand Junction augments its Software-as-a-Service platform with collaborative task management to track quality issue resolution in a single location

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Grand Junction Inc. (www.grandjunctioninc.com), the leader in local delivery software, announced today that it has enhanced its cloud-based platform with collaborative task management tools. The addition of collaborative task management to the platform will allow both shippers and couriers to report and manage quality issues to resolution in a single location, providing a complete and real-time picture of last-mile performance. This enhancement comes on the heels of Grand Junction approaching 65 million deliveries managed through its platform, establishing the Company as the unequivocal leader in the local delivery software industry.

Local delivery, a $46 billion dollar industry, has a reputation (often well-deserved) for quality issues. Local delivery companies, also known as couriers or local carriers, typically don't have access to the technologies that larger companies use to identify, diagnose, and correct quality issues such as late deliveries, problem drivers, or missing packages.  Taking a unique approach to these long-standing issues, Grand Junction brings shippers, couriers, and drivers together on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that all parties use throughout the delivery process.  As a result, quality issues decline as visibility and accountability increases. Through Grand Junction, high-quality delivery programs—including same-day, scheduled, storefront and two-person deliveries—are available to retailers and businesses of all sizes, enabling a new standard for local delivery of all types.

The addition of collaborative task management to the Grand Junction software further empowers the full-service platform by making information available on a single module that spans across a shipper's enterprise – coordinating between teams and externally with couriers. As a result, couriers can act on their own while the shipper maintains visibility into the process, allowing quality issues to be addressed more quickly and effectively, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and decreased transportation spend.

"With e-commerce on the rise and consumers' increasing expectations for low-cost shipping methods and higher service levels like same-day delivery, the future of logistics requires that businesses turn to the local delivery industry. Amazon started the trend a few years ago by turning to couriers for high-quality, cost effective delivery," remarked Rob Howard, CEO and founder of Grand Junction Inc. "Managing nearly 80,000 same-day deliveries on a typical day and used by couriers and drivers covering 96% of the population in the United States and Canada, Grand Junction is leading the charge and changing the game in customer delivery."

All organizations that did not originate this moment have a pre-existing culture as well as legacy technology and processes that can be more or less amenable to DevOps implementation. The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. In recent years, containers have taken the world by storm. Companies of all sizes and industries have realized the massive benefits of containers, such as unprecedented mobility, higher hardware utilization, and increased flexibility and agility; however, many containers today are non-persistent. Containers without persistence miss out on many benefits, and in many cases simply pass the responsibility of persistence onto other infrastructure, adding additional complexity.
