PARSIPPANY, N.J., Feb. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The IRS began accepting 2013 tax returns on January 31, and millions of Americans have started thinking about heading to their local tax preparer to file their returns, getting them one step closer to, what for many, is their biggest check of the year. But over the past few weeks, winter snow, ice, sleet and polar vortex freeze, have kept many taxpayers cooped up inside their homes. In preparation for winter's next storm, select Jackson Hewitt Tax Service® locations will be offering extended hours.
"With this year's e-file date starting late, and the many cities and towns getting hit with storm after storm," said Michael Williams, SVP & Chief Marketing Officer, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc., "taxpayers are eager to file their 2013 tax returns so they can get their refunds in hand. We're helping our customers, both new and old, by opening earlier or staying open later so those affected by the storms, and those who are planning ahead of the next storm, can come in and complete their returns."
Customers can make their office visit faster and easier by visiting My JH on JacksonHewitt.com and getting a jump start on their return. My JH allows customers to fill out their client information conveniently at home with an easy-to-prepare electronic data sheet, and My JH users can send their tax information directly to their local office before they come in. Taxpayers can also call ahead to their local office to see if the Tax Pros can start their return before they get there.
To help get ready, Jackson Hewitt® recommends that taxpayers have all necessary tax documents together. The Company provides an online checklist of items needed for filing a tax return, so filers know what they need to bring with them.
To find an office nearest you, visit the Office Locator on JacksonHewitt.com. An advance appointment can be made, but is not necessary.
