For Stonewood, the agreement will further build their specialty workers' compensation platform.  The program is focused in select Midwestern states on segments within the health care industry.  "We are pleased with the ability to partner with Patriot in the product segment.  As with all of our business, we are focused on select classes of risks at price points that we believe are reflective of exposure and which represent appropriate profit potential," said Steve Hartman, President and CEO of Stonewood Insurance Companies.  "Stonewood writes this segment in several other jurisdictions, and it is one of the segments within workers' compensation which we have targeted for growth.  A prerequisite for doing well in these classes in workers' compensation is having the right expertise in claims, underwriting and loss control.  Patriot is an established player with expertise in insuring risks in these target classes and jurisdictions."

This is Patriot's second partnership with an A-rated insurance carrier and comes shortly after a $28-million capital infusion into Patriot's wholly-owned subsidiary, Guarantee Insurance Company. Patriot's expansion and growth model calls for strategic alliances with partners, such as Stonewood, that share Patriot's dedication to providing an excellent insurance product and industry leading customer service.

John Rearer, President of Patriot Underwriters, Inc. said, "We are very excited about our new relationship with Stonewood.  Underwriting and handling claims for the healthcare industry is one of our areas of expertise.  Partnering with Stonewood offers our clients an 'A' rated paper option while continuing to receive the best service from our claims and underwriting staff. Everybody wins, especially our customers."

In IT, we sometimes coin terms for things before we know exactly what they are and how they’ll be used. The resulting terms may capture a common set of aspirations and goals – as “cloud” did broadly for on-demand, self-service, and flexible computing. But such a term can also lump together diverse and even competing practices, technologies, and priorities to the point where important distinctions are glossed over and lost.
Internet-of-Things discussions can end up either going down the consumer gadget rabbit hole or focused on the sort of data logging that industrial manufacturers have been doing forever. However, in fact, companies today are already using IoT data both to optimize their operational technology and to improve the experience of customer interactions in novel ways. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Gordon Haff, Red Hat Technology Evangelist, shared examples from a wide range of industries – including en...

Enterprise architects are increasingly adopting multi-cloud strategies as they seek to utilize existing data center assets, leverage the advantages of cloud computing and avoid cloud vendor lock-in. This requires a globally aware traffic management strategy that can monitor infrastructure health across data centers and end-user experience globally, while responding to control changes and system specification at the speed of today’s DevOps teams. All organizations that did not originate this moment have a pre-existing culture as well as legacy technology and processes that can be more or less amenable to DevOps implementation. That organizational culture is influenced by the personalities and management styles of Executive Management, the wider culture in which the organization is situated, and the personalities of key team members at all levels of the organization. DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE).
