MILWAUKEE, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Managed Health Services (MHS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), in collaboration with the Centene Foundation for Quality Healthcare, presented its 6th Annual Summit Award to Michael A. Krueger, MD, a family practice physician at Affinity Medical Group in Appleton, Wis.
The award acknowledges healthcare professionals for providing exemplary care and clinical excellence to MHS members throughout Wisconsin. A single award is presented annually.
"Managed Health Services is committed to recognizing Wisconsin healthcare professionals for the excellent care they provide to our members," said Robert Lyon, MD, chief medical officer for Managed Health Services. "We are pleased to recognize Dr. Krueger for the ongoing contributions he makes to improve the care, quality and long-term health outcomes of our members."
Winners of the annual Summit Award demonstrate superior performance in:
- follow-up care after emergency room visits.
- routine preventive and well-care services for both adults and children.
- establishing a "medical home" for new enrollees by promoting the member-primary-care physician relationship. In the medical home model, each person has a primary care provider, who manages all health care throughout the patient's life.
Dr. Krueger is the second healthcare provider from Affinity Health System to receive a Summit Award. Sandra Zernzach, APNP, of Affinity Medical Group in Oshkosh, Wis., was the recipient of the 4th Annual Summit Award.
Dr. Krueger received his award in a ceremony Feb. 14.
