Carbone Smolan Agency's Founding Partners to Be Honored at AIGA Centennial Gala

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 02/19/14 -- Founding partners of Carbone Smolan Agency (CSA), Kenneth Carbone and Leslie Smolan are recipients of the prestigious 2014 AIGA Medal, the highest honor of the design profession. Representing a broad range of design disciplines including branding, interaction design and design education, together the 2014 recipients collectively exemplify the legacy of visual communications and the impact of design.

"I am thrilled and humbled to be included in such an esteemed group of design heroes, mentors and friends," shares Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director Ken Carbone. "It is a career milestone that recognizes decades of hard work. And, to share this moment with Leslie makes the Medal even more memorable."

The 2014 AIGA Medals will be presented on April 25 at "The AIGA Centennial Gala" in New York City, an event that will benefit AIGA centennial projects including video interviews with AIGA Medalists, the interactive design history project CelebrateDesign.org, Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships and the AIGA Legacy Fund. The gala will bring together hundreds of design professionals and enthusiasts to celebrate AIGA's centennial and recognize the contributions of these design visionaries.

"The AIGA Centennial is a time to reflect upon our accomplishments as a profession and to honor this special group of design educators, practitioners and leaders," says AIGA Executive Director Richard Grefé. "We're honored to have been able to count them as members, colleagues and dear friends."

With a vibrant network of 25,000 members, AIGA serves as the collective voice of the design industry, championing design excellence and advocating for the influential role design and designers play in society. The AIGA Medal has been awarded since 1920 to individuals in recognition of their exceptional achievements, service and contributions to the field of communication design.

"AIGA has been instrumental in highlighting the impact of design on business and the world," says Leslie Smolan, Co-Founder and Director of Creative Strategy at CSA. "Ken and I are proud to have contributed to this legacy of leadership and excellence."
