SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Appointment-Plus, the worldwide leader in online scheduling solutions, has named Steve Booze as its chief operating officer. In this role, Booze will oversee sales, marketing, information technology, business development and human resources departments. He will also be focused on aligning product development with sales and marketing, rolling out mobile software applications, and spearheading a business analytics initiative. He will report directly to the company's CEO, Bob La Loggia.
Booze has 15 years of experience in managing information technology teams throughout North America, Asia and Europe for mid-sized and major corporations. In 2011, he joined Appointment-Plus as CIO and has been with the company since. This new role will include many of his prior responsibilities, as well as giving him jurisdiction over additional areas that directly impact the company's growth.
"Since joining Appointment-Plus as CIO Steve has had a tremendous impact on the team and the overall organization," said Bob La Loggia, CEO of Appointment-Plus. "Steve is relentlessly focused on client satisfaction and operational efficiency. With his background in technology and his diligent commitment to maintaining and enhancing the culture at Appointment-Plus, we're lucky to have Steve assume the position of Chief Operating Officer."
"I'm eager to step into this new role and continue to help steer our business, which is strongly rooted around enabling our customers to grow and manage their businesses by providing mobile and online appointment scheduling software," Booze said. "Appointment-Plus is scheduling more than four million appointments monthly, and it's encouraging to see that number continuing to rise. With Gartner showing the adoption of SaaS technology continuing to grow over the next several years, we're seeing apprehension about deploying a SaaS solution quickly turning into acceptance and demand. Our clients see the benefits of how our solution is quickly deployed in a cost-effective manner, and I'm looking forward to building upon that trust and giving them even more of what they need."
Booze is a magna cum laude graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in quantitative history. He is also an alumnus of the Executive Development Program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, and currently sits on the board of Bent but Not Broken, a non-profit organization that provides educational, emotional & financial resources for medical patients and their caretakers.

Organizations planning enterprise data center consolidation and modernization projects are faced with a challenging, costly reality. Requirements to deploy modern, cloud-native applications simultaneously with traditional client/server applications are almost impossible to achieve with hardware-centric enterprise infrastructure. Compute and network infrastructure are fast moving down a software-defined path, but storage has been a laggard. Until now.

IoT solutions exploit operational data generated by Internet-connected smart “things” for the purpose of gaining operational insight and producing “better outcomes” (for example, create new business models, eliminate unscheduled maintenance, etc.). The explosive proliferation of IoT solutions will result in an exponential growth in the volume of IoT data, precipitating significant Information Governance issues: who owns the IoT data, what are the rights/duties of IoT solutions adopters towards t...

Between 2005 and 2020, data volumes will grow by a factor of 300 – enough data to stack CDs from the earth to the moon 162 times. This has come to be known as the ‘big data’ phenomenon. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to handling, storing and analyzing data aren’t adequate at this scale: they’re too costly, slow and physically cumbersome to keep up. Fortunately, in response a new breed of technology has emerged that is cheaper, faster and more scalable. Yet, in meeting these new needs they...

Complete Internet of Things (IoT) embedded device security is not just about the device but involves the entire product’s identity, data and control integrity, and services traversing the cloud. A device can no longer be looked at as an island; it is a part of a system. In fact, given the cross-domain interactions enabled by IoT it could be a part of many systems. Also, depending on where the device is deployed, for example, in the office building versus a factory floor or oil field, security ha...

When it comes to cloud computing, the ability to turn massive amounts of compute cores on and off on demand sounds attractive to IT staff, who need to manage peaks and valleys in user activity. With cloud bursting, the majority of the data can stay on premises while tapping into compute from public cloud providers, reducing risk and minimizing need to move large files. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Scott Jeschonek, Director of Product Management at Avere Systems, discussed the IT and busin...

In this strange new world where more and more power is drawn from business technology, companies are effectively straddling two paths on the road to innovation and transformation into digital enterprises. The first path is the heritage trail – with “legacy” technology forming the background. Here, extant technologies are transformed by core IT teams to provide more API-driven approaches. Legacy systems can restrict companies that are transitioning into digital enterprises. To truly become a lead...
